"Everybody wants to rule the world". Suitable song to start off with.

And not a bad skate to start with from Lorine Schild.

The camera work was a bit, erm, off axis. But, it was the first skater of the event to be filmed. I'm sure it will improve as we go on.

Ah, we follow up with one of our Hungarian cacti.

And Vivian Papp lived up to that billing, having a fall early on. But, she recovered to take the lead.

Over the years, I have developed a soft spot for the Turkish skaters. So, I felt so sorry for Anna Deniz OZDEMIR. Two falls early on won't help her chances.

The rest of it looked not too bad. But, she goes into last place. By a 14 point margin.

But, it's early days. There is plenty of room in that gap for others to slot into, and give her a chance of climbing in the FS.

And just after writing that, the first of the Austrian skaters, Jasmin ELSEBAIE, does just that!

She's from Linz, so it was the other Cup Of Austria that we had last month that was her local event. And she actually competed in it (just like she did the last time it was in Linz in 2018). Although she scored higher at the Barvarian Open last season, she did set a new SB today, bettering her score from Linz by 0.22 points.

So, there is something for her to be happy about.

I have to admit, I don't remember seeing the German girl that finished up Group 1, Olesya RAY, before.

She had a fall, but nevertheless slotted into 3rd position.

The first skater of Group 2 is about to start. And none of the names seem familiar. But, there are 2 Hungarians. So, it will be interesting to see if they are cacti.

Right, something strange happened. The first skater was called, and then somebody shouted, and she went back to the boards. And then there was some banging. And eventually she was called again and started.

There are too many echos, so I couldn't make out what was being said. So, I don't know what was going on.

Hadn't come across Dominika Motlochová (CZE) before.

I looked her up, and she was 5th in Junior Nationals last year. She also did Seniors at 4 Nationals, and was 4th Czech girl and 15th overall.

She had a fall not long into the programme. And she ended up becoming the new occupant of last place, 2.5 points behind Ozdemir.

But, her score was a whisker higher than she got in Seniors at 4 Nationals!

Have to be honest, when Billie Eilish music started, I kinda lost interest in the second Austrian skater, Lina SALZER.

I made a mistake. I have actually seen the second Hingarian girl, Lili KRIZSANOVSZKI. She was in one of the Courchevel Junior GP's. And I remember her because she is using a song that I love, but which I don't like skaters using because it is tempting fate - Abba's "The Winner Takes It All".

That was actually a good skate. No sign of being a cactus.

Into 3rd place.

Ah, wrong music. She is now practicing jumps.

Second time lucky. Well, for her it was. It wasn't for me, because she is skating to Billie Eilish.

She was actually 6th in one of our Courchevel Junior GP's. And her SP score there was just below what our current leader has. But, she scored no-where near that today. Into 6th, about a point lower than the top Austrian.

More music problems for the next skater.

Ah, she's withdrawn. It was the next skater that came out to skate, but it was Weronika's music that played.
