2021 Cup of Austria: Women's Short Program

She is in the family with the hockey couch Jan Filc, who brought one and only ice hockey world championship gold medal to Slavakia in 2002
That´s cool! It seems some skaters starting figure skating becaue hockey players in the family. I think Emmi Peltonens brother or father or something did ice hockey?

It´s expensive and they have to go to school, and they are not allowed to train heavy at young age. Also 3000-4000 average a month may be before taxes. At least I had 2500 euros a month after taxes in my last job. I don´t think that´s a bad salary but it would not give much room for pay for someones figure skating. Mostly the parents who have kids who skate have better jobs though with higher salary. A lot of them don´t get support otherwise before they are considered elite skaters. So a lot quit skating before they get there. Also closed ice rink in the summer is a big problem. But they have a development project going on now with the goal of OG in 2026 :)
My impression is that Norway has sent many skaters competing internationally this season. At least more than Sweden and maybe more than the other nordic countries as well. Finland?

Her father is an ice hockey legend Ville Peltonen, multiple Olympic (1994, 1998, 2006, 2010) and Wolds ( 8 times) ice hockey medailist and 1995 World Champion

Hmmm I don´t think they have sent much more then Sweden and Finland though. This is the second senior event for the Norwegians and the first Challenger, last was NRW Trophy in Dortmund with only one senior skater, but maybe they are sending more juniors and novice. It´s possible they have more money to spend this year because they didn´t compete at all last season because of the difficulties with travel restrictions. I know Sweden had skaters competing abroad last season. This is the only Challenger before new year, but there will be juniors at Tallinn Trophy next week. And then there is Open D´Andorra and Bratislava Gran Prix in December with both senior and juniors. And Frida will be sent to the Universade!

I think skating families(whatever their disciplines) in Finland and Sweden send their kids to ordinary skating schools. And mostly the boys end up in hockey and the girls in figure skating.
