2021 Skate Canada: Men's Short Program

Good for Nathan! Back on track. He skated well. I can't but help liking Jason's skate more but Nathan doesn't only have quads (though those are superb when he's on as he was now) but has a lot of other excellent parts in his skating too. Fierce today, and that's good.

Thanks heavens, although this means NBC will now reinstate their policy that all skating coverage must include the words "Nathan" and "quad" no fewer than fifteen times per hour.
Oh that is the worst :( For some reason in Aus we get a lot of US focus at the Olympics. I felt so awful for Nathan after the SP in Korea. I was so happy when he roared back in the FS!

But yeah Aussie and US broadcasters have that in common..they go waaaaay overboard with coverage, the pressure is too much.

Or do all countries do that? Please advise.

Now see 12 points is too big a lead :( although Nathan did bring the quads and the step sequence was good, Jason's overall presentation was leaps ahead.

Petition for separate TES and PCS judging panels!

Good competition; it was definitely better than the hot mess SP that was Skate America. Ignatov surprised me. That 4Lo was on point and I think his score should be a 2-3 points higher. I thought it’ll break 90, but his PCS was too low. Semeneko’s score, on the other hand, should be a bit lower. He was skating in mud. But he’s definitely trying to improve on everything else. I noticed his spins look better than they did at Worlds.

I wonder what Ignatov needs to do to get the same GOE for his awesome 4Lo as Brown gets for his 3F? How do we say - "to give birth to a child on ice"?

So the only ones who were clean are Nathan and Makar. Brown too with the lowest jump difficulty. Not a very good competition but not a splatfest either.
I would have put Makar in the 90 zone.
