2021 World Entries

I'm not Canadian but I do have a really soft spot for them, so here's their choice for the Worlds team (as pronounced just now in a post by the Golden Skate Team, based on a Skate Canada Announcement):

It was a tough choice in the men, but to me, Keegan does make the most sense. Experience is one of the most valuable assets for a skater this year.

With P/C sitting this year out, is it likely France will only have one spot in dance for the Olympics?

Jenni Saarinen? Yikes. Finland really has no one better? Sad state of affairs after Viveca Lindfors retired.

Emmi Peltonen is injured and Linnea Ceder has not competed this season at all, so probably also she injured, Sofia Sula has retired. Jenni has a few points better sb than next on the list, Oona Ounasvuori, but Oona does not have the fs tes, so she cannot be even substitute. So the answer to your question is: No, Finland does not have anyone better to send. In men it is the same situation, Roman Galay is injured. There are technically much better young skaters growing up, in both ladies and men, let's just hope the growth spurt does not spoil their skills or interests. But none of them is not age eligible yet; we must wait at least one or two seasons. So waiting for that we only hope Valtter and Jenni could skate clean at Worlds.

I had assumed they would pick Dima for the second spot, based on his track record - I love him but actually I am more relieved than disappointed. He had a hard season and he was clearly still not at his best yesterday at his FP with which he actually won the segment, he deserves rest now. It will be a good experience for Evgeny, and I am so chuffed for grandpa Mishin!!! He must be so proud of his team
I am gutted for Dasha & Denis - but that's not to say I am not happy with Nastya & Sasha, it was a clear cut choice and I love both teams equally and it was such a dilemma with only one spot left!!! :drama: It is not fair that Russia can only send 3 pairs when there are so many incredible talents! Anyway they are all very young, and together with Sasha & Dima Russian pair skating dynasty will have a bright future in coming years!

Great to be seeing Lisa at Worlds again! I just follow a few skaters in Ladies, and Lisa is definitely one of them. I had hopes after learning the results of the Final. Glad it's confirmed. It's a pity we won't be seeing Daria and Denis, but good to see Anastasia and Alexandr who, as I understand, had some stand-out performances at the Final. I hope Dmitri Aliev can at least look back towards a good ending in his FS (and - yes - let him take some good rest now). Dance is as predicted.

Me too. I am surprised, but I cannot argue with the decision. Let Semenenko have a stab at it. He's a talented fresh face and not as much under pressure. With the Russian boys - anyone can equally shine or bomb it. There's no guarantee. So why not, and congrats to Zhenya! 👏👏👏

That's my greatest problem: I love almost all the Russian pairs in equal measures and it tears me apart that only three teams can go. Anyway, M&G have excited me the most this season, so best of luck to them!!! :cheer:

Of course I'm super happy that Liza will be there, she deserves it so much. It also means that all my three favourite girls can have a go.

I already knew who it should be, but I've awaited the official announcement from the Dutch Skating Federation:

Netherlands
Ladies: Lindsay van Zundert (there could be a subs here in the person of Niki Wories, but she wasn't mentioned in the announcement)
Pairs: Daria Danilova and Michel Tsiba
Ice Dance: Chelsea Verhaegh and Sherim van Geffen

It's a first ever for a pairs team going to Worlds (would have happened last year, but the cancellation prevented that), as well as a first ever for having three disciplines covered. I'm rather chuffed.

Josefin Taljegård just confirmed om her Instagram-account that she has been picked to represent Sweden together with Nikolaj Majorov in Stockholm. Congratz, well deserved!
Josefin is fun to watch but she need a new costumes...short program costume especcially :)

I agree with you, I wish she changed both dresses, they kind of bug me. I find them a bit boring. But maybe there is a reason behind. They don´t look like the most expensive dresses so it could be she had limited options and made the best out of a budget.

Jenni Saarinen? Yikes. Finland really has no one better? Sad state of affairs after Viveca Lindfors retired.

Jenni´s PB 181,20 is from 2019. Since then she has not been that consistent and Challenge cup didn´t go well but Jenni is a well-rounded and skillful skater and has a lot of potential. Since Emmi (PB 181,79 from 2020) is not able to participate due to foot injury great to see Jenni at Worlds!
