I am sure that Josée Picard, DSD's coach, knows all about BV and improving on it... She was pushing S/B to do their 3loops back then.
The thing is that Deanna and Max have done a lot of ground work this year. I think it's important to recognize what they have done already as there will always be something to work on.
This year : they have revamped their SBS 3t entries so it makes the jumps in synch. They have learned a new death spiral with a special pivot which is the hardest and highest BV for a DS. They have reworked their lifts to make sure they get level 4s instead of level 3s as they did earlier this season. They are stabilising the throw triple flip. And yes, the plan is to include the 3s as they attempted at 4CC.
Is it enough? Perhaps not yet... I agree it would be nice for them to take advantage of the 2a sequence opportunities... even if it meant to do a 2s-2a-2a (served Chan and Howe quite well). However, some skaters do not like the axel jump... Do we even know if it's an option for them??? I could tell Meagan that it would have been nice for them to do a triple triple combo... she didn't have one but Eric did... and she would have answered, well I wanted to do a triple loop jump but Eric didn't have one
So it's always easy to say what teams could do but do we really know what is available to them... Some skaters do not have enough flow for 3 jump combos.
Finally, I do agree on the principle though... Meagan and Eric did include their new elements early every season... and then, kept what was working for them and nixed the others (like the 3s throw)... and that's what allowed Meagan to land that crazy 4s throw at the olympics and secured their medals...
In an ideal world, Deanna and Max would indeed include a 3 jump combo... they would also nail all their elements and get more PCS and GOE
