Dynasties don‘t last forever. Others come along, take the ideas the dynasty had and improve on them.

Plus, people like Plushenko are winners. They aren’t here to just show up. They have the resources to compete. And the talent pool is expanding, everyone is learning the elements much earlier.

For a fan of the sport, this is a great situation to be in. I’ve always said that it’s great to have multiple schools producing multiple winners. A lot better for the viewer if 5, 6 or even 8 people from different schools are in the running to win an event. The more wide open the competition, the better it is to watch.

And the GP‘s ended up being a blessing in disguise, since we get to see a lot of fresh faces and because of no quotas, the top skaters face competition from day 1.

And as a super bonus, we get to see Liza discovering the fountain of youth right before our very eyes. Crazy how there were whispers that her retirement was imminent. 2 seasons ago. Not only is she alive, she is well and right in the mix. And if she starts landing quads regularly in competition, that elusive national championship won’t be elusive for long.

Nobody mentioned it yet, but what a way to respond to the disappointment of not making the Olympic team. She worked hard on and off ice to improve.
True, dynasties surely do not last forever. Whether such change started or not can be judged only after some time. As was said before, Kamila and Sofia land quads/3A in training, the highest total score for both segments belongs to Kami, the highest score for a free program belongs to Sofia from the stage 1 and then there is Adelia Petrosian landing 3A and quads, who would probably have won this stage too with her performance from Sochi.

If we look into the past, there were moments when skaters from the team of Eteri Tutberidze did not win. For instance Daria Usacheva did not win her JGP stages during the 2019/20 season, during the 2020/21 season at the Russian cup stages it was also for Plushenko. But then always the most important events came. One cannot expect the winner can be all the same in such environment amnd this kind os sport where even the tiniest thing can significantly affect the rest.

When I look at the current skaters of AoP,. they certainly are not in the position the skaters from Khrustalny were or are in the previous season or now. Titova, Zhilina or Muravieva are not consistent so far and do not deliver results that are not beatable by their competitors. Than the final result depneds on momental form and of course luck a little too.

I would just describe the situation as the more balanced and less predictable, or as you say, the more wide open. Russian nationals will be exciting, I'm sure about it.

Haha. Is it already so far that landed training jumps and subjunctive victories have to be argued if the superiority of TT is to be proven. It actually seems to be going down.

Watching the current Cup of the Moscow sport brings optimism, russian skating, girls or boys, is definitely not stagnating. And we have a new confirmed quadster in Margarita Baziliuk.

And Shcherbakova performed a lovely exhibition of her Ave Maria program, with a triple flip, so she's restored another triple. I don't think all her lights were working today though, lol

Here is a change of pace. SE interviewed Anna Romasyuk and her coach. What a wonderful piece.

Apparently, she is the only one that didn’t have one fall all weekend.

What’s not too wonderful are bears on the street and -60 Celsius. Yeah, no thanks.

Definitely agree that Team Eteri isn’t dead and buried just yet. One bad day at the office doesn’t take away years of domination. I’m not writing TT obituary just yet either.

Because of the years of domination, every loss is scrutinized more than someone else’s.

That’s part of being on the top of the mountain.

Awesome. I’m already jittery about her doing any jumps at this point, so they pile on by dimly lighting the whole endeavor.

I know I’m trying to be the cool parent going forward, but they got to help me out a little bit too. Haha

That’s what you call a blue chip prospect.

If she pans out, that Eteri dynasty may go on for another decade. It might last forever and prove me wrong.
She rotates fast and the height on those quads is pretty good as well. Girl can jump.
Need more speed on some of the entrances though.

What is Sasha's beef with Channel 1?

My guess Channel 1 is extremely close to Team Tutberidze, supposedly they have media people that used to work for the Channel and Daniil's fiance is a producer there. And rumor has it Trusova has a contract with MatchTV a competitor - if you notice the Channel 1 logo was missing from her jacket this week, it wasn't like that at the last event.
