2022-23 Russian Women's Figure Skating

A lot, lot higher. She is the star in the women, and Mark is always charismatic and exciting to watch.
So, Russian Ladies is exciting! I’m trying to figure out who are the favourites for making the National team, etc. and who would qualify to Worlds, if Russia was allowed to compete this year. Based on what we’ve seen:
1) Adeliya P - WC1
2) Valieva - would make the WC Team; but, she wouldn’t be allowed to compete internationally, right?
3) Elizaveta T - WC2
4) Sofia M - WC3
Looks like landing the 3A is becoming of importance. 3S (three Sofias) are right behind the big three.
5) Sofia Akatieva - ineligible to compete, she is too young
6) Sofia S - National Team
7) Alexandra Trusova - National Team
Then, my favourite under rated ladies:
8) Veronika Yametova - National Team
9) Kseniia Sinitsnyna - Reserve List
10) Anastasiia Zinina - Reserve List
11) Anna Frolova - Reserve List
Frolova debuted with a good SP. My faves are Sofia M, (Veronika, Kseniia and Anna). I’m glad these non-ultra c girls are doing well on the Russian Cup Stages. Hoping Frolova hangs on to nab a medal.

she just started jumping 2 weeks ago, the 2 final stages came way too quickly for her to have restored all her triples and 3-3. Even tho her injury doesn't affect her jumping, after month of no jumping restoring jumps takes time which why skaters have and need months of training time after their vacation and prior to test skates/comps to get consistent jumps back and get in in shape again.Where is Khromykh?

And she found a way to win today. I always pay attention to results where everyone didn’t skate their best and it comes down to who can battle through and compose themselves for the gold.
Sometimes you win being less worse than your opponents rather than being better than them. But, a win‘s a win. Winning ugly still gives you the same medal and prize money.

I agree. Petrosyan out in front and Kamila right there if she can land her 4T she goes out in front. The problem for Adelia is zero mushrooms. Akateva seems affected by pressure but if she's clean she can get gold for the real world championship. In terms of pressure though, what Akateva faces is 1/10th of the attention on Kamila.
The only skater you can depend on is Kamila. She might fall on her 4T but everything else will be almost perfect.
Its probably safe to say the old era aka Anna, Alena and Alexandra is over. As for the second era (Kamila, Daria, Maia), the later two wont get a peek from the fed for being out that long and they were never truely favoured. As for Kamila she hasnt shown a quad or 3a this season and I cant see her being able to land multiple ultra c element in a program like last year. I will put good money that Elizaveta might win Nats since the fed now apparently think her pcs are top tier and she really is the only one who will likelly land a 3a whereas everyone quad/3a either dont exist or inconsistent

Forget to mention this as well: the security at the event was atrocious. You can’t have fans being able to get on the ice that easily and get that close to the skaters. And then be able to just leave the ice in front of the skater. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Where is Khromykh?
Both she and Usacheva are missing the GP series, hey everyone was preaching about the skaters taking care of their health...
Though - I've not really seen any videos of Usacheva skating where she's doing competition type elements like jumps, I wonder if she's actively trying to get back to competition.
I kinda expected and understand the struggles of top ladies in Samara.
What I don't understand are their programs from Sokolovskaya.
Gosh, what a mix of cringe, emptiness and boredom...
The highlights for me this competition were some of the lower finishing ladies or the non-marquee names+ Anna Frolova - her SP was the first time I felt her skating+program was striking and memorable, in the past my commentary towards her skating was very Rachel Flatt-esque, she's good and competent but never before did her program excite me to want to hop on youtube and see it again. Sofia Caplygina and Anna Frolova were probably my 2 favorites of this competition.

One journalist says she stopped training for a week.
I've seen in her videos hanging around Ice Age with Shcherbakova and Zagitova, makes me wonder a bit. She's gotta understand (moreso than us probably) how unlikely her chances are of regaining her form to a position where she might get international assignments when they happen for Russia. And I've said it several times, I think the skaters that get a taste of the big world and winning the big competitions, that only having the prospect of small competitions or domestic competitions make it difficult to be motivated.

Last week Margarita Baziliuk was briefly mentioned here as new "quadster", which she confirmed later that week by her 3 clean quad delivery at the Volkov's Memorial. And now we can also see her 3A, so far in training:
