Fursova at the Mordovian event looking like someone straight out of an 1980’s music video or fitness tape has to be one of the greatest outfits I ever saw. Tremendous.

I don't understand a word, but Ch1 always has very entertaining promos
You can turn on the auto-translate and get English captions.

Also, someone is conspicuous by her absence in the video and it’s has caused a lot of chatter on social media.

Russian ladies figure skating: where even something as innocuous as a promo video contains hidden behind the scenes drama.

Whom are the 18 girls (I think 18 is the limit so there can be 3 groups of 6?) competing at nationals? Which recognizable face will be missed this year?

It's great seeing Liza still skating as well as she ever has. Her career has outlasted the last three Olympic champions and every world champion who followed her 2015 win aside from Kaori. Mishin deserves a lot of credit for helping her develop technique that has allowed her to compete for so long.

So happy for the S-Kat winning Rusnats gold edging KV by just a little bit.

So sad for SS who must have had really an off performance at Russian Nationals. She was so good at Nationals last season.

I'm even sadder Dasha and Maya did not compete oh my God what missed opportunities for them and while it would have been virtually impossible for them to score over 240 points to make the podium at 16 this was the time for them to shine at home. Hopefully they will get healthy for next season and be tremendous at 17.

Missing Anna and Sasha big time as well. The standard they set at the Olympics will never be reached again by any lady at the games. Unless its SA.

Nastya Z had a pretty nice Nationals. I think taking some Ultra jumps out and simplifying her programs has helped you be more consistent and I wish more of the Russian girls did that. I don't think we will ever see Dasha do ultra jumps but she's a super beautiful skater and can score over 220 points if she's in good form.

It has to be disappoing that SM and Petro did not make the podium. But it's kind of amazing and hopefully inspirational to the girls that Liza at 26 finished ahead of Sonia at 16 and Petro at 15.

We have to admit that KV was good at this event and almost won Russian Nationals gold again. I do hope she gets some clarification on her future in 2023 so she can still be great again for the world to see at 17, 18, 19 and 20 because she is so spectacular and gifted.

I do wish since this was the Crown Jewel of the Russian stay at home season they had moved it to January right before Europeans or right after Europeans and it could have given a few skaters more time to recover. Now their season is over and it ain't even January yet. It's a long time off until September and test skates whether they're skating internationally or just at home again next season that's a long time away. I hope they can stay sharp enough to not let their gifts be dulled moving forward.

The final of the Cup of Russia is on the first week of March, at Sochi.
