Ha, I watched just for a while the congress on Youtube but I happened to see the exact part where they rejected more junior tournaments, solely because it would just cost too much money. And I expect more financial troubles because less people will be interested in events without Russians obviously...
As they say, canoe is always sunk by the water from inside.

Just to make a rough picture about how the season without russian women will look like...

Basically a disaster! Don't get me wrong I like the Korean and Japanese skaters, but I want to see the best compete against each other! Without the Russians it's a farce! I feel so sad for these talented and wonderful skaters!!

Is it official that they can't participate? 😞

Yes and No, the ban remains the same "banned until further notice" so they are banned but there is no concrete date that they will be eligible to compete, theoretically the ban can also be rescinded at any time
Yes. The congress did not accept the rule extending the power of the council to make such measures to practically unlimited and uncontrolled size, but just after the voting the council stated that the current communication from march that banned russian/belarussian skaters is still in effect. It is a question of course how legal it is (basically if it is claimed as protective measure, it should also clearly state who and from whom is protected and for how long and how can be decided the protection is still/no longer necessary), but if it won't be lifted by the council itself, only CAS can potentially claim such measure as invalid. And we do not know when CAS will decide.

Its so sad, I really hoped that they would change their decision.. but no  😕
Of course not, although it doesn't make sense. That's ISU for you. Or rather countries who don't like Russian domination in FS. Russian hockey players play in the NHL without problems... ATP also allows Russian tennis players to play, they were just banned in Wimbledon, as far as I know. So it would be perfectly OK to allow Russian in GP. But no, let's ban them and destroy the figure skating season completely.

International Suicide Union.

I like Evengia's response.
I don't care if I get a warning for this, but:

"Our skaters are used to standing on podiums, not in queues at migration centres."

How anyone can like this sentence, when Ukrainians are literally fleeing their country because their towns are being razed by Russian soldiers, is beyond me. Sure, there are people out there being killed, children being orphaned, but not being allowed to land some triple loops at Skate America is the highest injustice. What a tactless, thoughtless and wilfully ignorant response from her. She's lost all my respect.

What to say... poor Sofia... I hope she can get an exception or something...
Yeah Isabeau won't have to skate against Sofia for like five years as SA has to be in juniors for five years which is the craziest thing I've ever seen in figure skating. They need to get her grandfathered in or start their own world skating organization in Russia.

Terms of possible Russian GP stages (apparently this is not supposed to replace the Russian Cup series) - edited:

Moscow: 21-23 October
Sochi: 28-30 October
Kazan: 4-6 November
Moscow: 11-13 November
Samara: 18-20 November
Perm: 25-27 November
They also need to do their own GP final their own Europeans and their own worlds along with Belarus Their competitions will be so much better than the ISU in 3 of the 4 disciplines it won't be funny.

They can also invite skaters from other countries and make it open competitions. They can call this organization the world skating association or the world's skating Union and move on from the International skating Union permanently because the ISU has nothing to do with who goes to the Olympics. That's a federation decision.

Also thank you to tennis the women's tour and the men's tour for standing up for Russian and Belarus tennis players who have nothing to do with anything. It's amazing to have seen all the Russian tennis players playing at the French open with no issues at will issues at all but Russian skaters won't be at the French Grand Prix event in November. Hmmmm.

why not a gp in Belarus? That would make it International and not just domestic.

I only watched the men's. Couldn't face the farce of the women's and the pairs !! It's a ridiculous ban!
Mauve farce is a good word. And while male and female tennis players stand up for Russian and Belarusian tennis players and allow them to play have you noticed not a word from any figure skaters around the world saying this band of Russian skaters is wrong? Very selfish people. And they are licking their chops in 3 of the 4 disciplines not to have to compete with Russians on the junior and senior levels. Sad. Also the ISU has never had anything good to say about Russian skaters the greatest country in the sport so why would you even want to be a part of it any more?

This next season during their own Grand Prix season they will have the chances to expand this out further to their own Europeans and their own worlds with just Russia and Belarus. The door is open for the Russians to do something different something saying futuristic something to something to develop all their great talent that is being stunted by the ISU..
