2022 Winter Olympics: Pairs Free Skate

Huge, huge congratulations to Tarasova/Morozov! They put two programs worthy of Gold medal as well, it was just a matter of taste! I was truly cheering for them to get Olympic medal because they deserved it so much, and I'm very happy they got silver like Ksenia and Fedor did!

Not to pat myself on the back too much (well, maybe) - I had a strong feeling their first competition out, and it may have even been test skates, that T/M were going to be the highest placing Russian team at the Olympics and the closest challenger for gold. They've had probably their best two programs ever and a confidence they hadn't had in recent years. There have been a LOT of problems along the way this season, but they put it together when it matters most. Very deserving silver medalists

T/M had such a clean skate too. I wish they both could have Gold.

I rarely say this but yes. I'm extremely proud of T/M.

The skaters of the competition were definitely T/M. For once they seized the moment. Kinda sad they didn’t get gold, but that quad twist was one the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.

As for M/G, they did their best. I’m glad they won’t get eaten by the critics. Just two points off gold and skating an almost complete season. Sad for them because they’ll most likely lose a gold they rightfully earned at the TE. But they’ll have more chances in the future.

I think this score is way too generous after having a clear mistake but I'm very happy they seized that gold medal.

Well it can't be blamed on components because T\M are ahead in PCS

Gotta be that Quad twist earning 1.5 points more than T\M twist,
and Tarasova losing some precious GOEs in a couple tight landings.

Tarasova and Morozov were absolutely better, the flow, the couple elements and the technical quality in general. But it was obvious that they were going to give it to Sui/Han, even though I feel like they didn't deserve it.

Congratulations to all the medallist. That was an amazing last group. Feel a bit sorry for B/K. They don´t deserve to be that far behind.

I stepped out to take a break, all I saw was Vladimir on the ice afterwards overcome with emotion. I am willing to return for Sui & Han and for other reason

The quad twist decided

I think the quad twist made good for the turnout. Their better PCS decided. All Russian teams were understandably very cautious. Had T/M put in a little more esprit they would be the rightful winners. Overall scoring was quite fair, methinks.

Nobody and I mean nobody better dare say they fell short or didn't live up to the moment.

And no emotion? Their tears of happiness put pay to that!

They were incredible! So happy for them and for you @anonymoose_au ! That performance was so poised and beautiful

So happy for Sui/Han, what a redemption from 4 years ago , and for Mishina/Galliamov, such stars now and for the future .
Such wonderful performances from the whole podium!

I’m crying RN. I’ve watched Han’s reaction for about 20 times in a row. We can’t imagine the intense PRESSURE they’ve been under these past 4 years. Pairs skating IS Chinese skating. On home ice. In CHINA. They DID IT!

The only thing I don't get is why M/G are so close to T/M and S/H

Because the Russia fed. put all their political power behind them. Now if they had put some of that behind T/M we would be hearing Tchaikovsky and not the anthem of the People's Republic of China!
