Anyone watched the Novice Pairs Free livestream recording (Waterloo). It’s really glitching and buffering, making it unwatchable for me. I wonder if this is just my experience?

i tried to watch it and stopped for the same reasons.

I tried to watch, but it wouldn't let me because I have Ad Block and refuse to turn it off. Usually, though, I can then switch over to Incognito and watch something there that I can't get in the usual browser. I'll try that later when I have time.

Congrats to Fabbri/Ayer for winning bronze at Challenge Cup on short notice. Hopefully that will help them get a non-host GP spot next season.

It looks like Matthew didn't have a good short there judging by the protocol :( He lost a lot of competition time in the fall, which is a shame. Hopefully he can do better in the free and get some WS points.
He popped a jump and had no combination. A pity. Alica and Paul were superb, both in the RD and the FD! Really good to watch. However, it seems Olivia and Tim are very popular (everyone was applauded and encouraged but the roar that went up before and after their skate was immense), while Loicia and Theo are very good too. I would have had Alicia and Paul second, but then I am no judge!

What? Really 😳
Tell me more;
Wow! We have a little prodigy coming up!

I was just happy for one of our athletes to being close to mastering the non ultra-c triple jumps! Go Lia
Somebody who knows Lia personally told me she has already landed 3A clean many times but its not in her program because its not consistent enough

haven't you seen Sarah-Maude's insta ?
She's done the 3a in practice too.

If SMD doesn't get sent out more she doesn't have the chance to try anything. When you only get 1 or 2 events you have to do what you know just to be sure to get a good SB. It is like in some other sports where they give 3 or 4 attempts and only the best score counts. Once you have a good score you then can try for different tricks to up the anti.

Thanks for posting!!

I wonder how will they do next year.
Will be be a better partner?

I hope Fiona retires from singles and just focuses on Pairs for next season
It'll be interesting to see them in the summer competitions. If they look good in them, I can see Skate Canada giving them a host spot at SCI, especially with Ben's experience level.

Concentrating on pairs would probably be the better option over competing in both. If Fiona has more free skates in sectionals like Nationals, she wouldn't have the TES requirements to even make it to Challenge. And it'd be harder to get out internationally in singles while she could probably finally get a SCI host spot in pairs with Ben. But that all depends on how they do in the summer.

Alternates for Worlds:

Men
Matthew Newnham
Conrad Orzel
Aleksa Rakic

Ice Dance
Fabbri/Ayer
Lauriault/Le Gac

They're listed in alphabetical order on the ISU entries page. No alternates for pairs. Derenisky/Eberl are the only team left with the minimums, and I can see why they were left off after Nationals.

still... why not name alternates if you can rather than leaving an empty spot for home worlds ? In Ice Dance, there should be a third alternate team too.

Skate Canada is sending the following message : you are not good enough to go, even as alternates. That bugs me.

For men, with matthew's outing this weekend, I'd believe he is in 3rd place. If anything happened to our men, it would be depending on how Rakic does at junior worlds.... if he does well enough, he would get the nod... if not, Conrad would.

Yeah, I'm surprised only two ice dance, especially with how the second half of the season is going. They could name three men, but not another ice dance team?

For pairs, I can see why they wouldn't name one. But if Derenisky/Eberl are still together, throw them in.

Agreed that Matthew is third. I think Conrad is probably first since his SB is higher than Aleksa and he has senior championship experience. But after his luck with equipment last year and Roman's luck this year, better to have as many alternates as possible in men.

i mean, if worlds were far away... no need to name D/E... of course... but in Canada... how much can it cost them to give them experience at worlds if something goes wrong with our top teams. Hopefully, nothing will go wrong in pairs. Please let's have one discipline where things are "normal" LOL
