2023-24 French Championships

Ehrhard/Pellegris: Ouch! Double fall, quite in sync. Fall on the throw. They look a little dispirited afterwards, but fight through.

Not what they hoped for. 😟

44.36. Have they watched what Anna Pogorilaya did with this music?

Double fall very early on for Louise EHRHARD / Matthis PELLEGRIS (CHAMP). And they didn't even manage to make them look synchronised.

The rest of it wasn't too bad. But, the falls are going to be VERY costly.

And then to add insult to injury, they finished early.

They looked winded coming off the ice.

Ouch. Into last position. But, not very far behind the partnership ahead of them.

Now, will my kids take the lead away fron their Courbevoie team-mates?

:cheer: ALL THE BEST CAMILLE AND PAVEL!!! :cheer:

Kovalev/Kovalev: One hand down and a little rough here and there, but they narrowly match the power of the music with their energy. Not bad. 60.07, in the lead.

I was worried that they were getting too close to the boards for the throw that they did as their second element, but Camille had enough room to land it.

Ach, double hands down for Camille on the element she always has issues with. (It's a wonder they don't change it).

But after that, everything went smoothly.

They didn't look very happy after they finished.

Waiting for their results, it does look to have taken it out of them.

They go into the lead, 1.71 points ahead of their team-mates Océane PIEGAD / Denys STREKALIN.

:cheer: WELL DONE CAMILLE AND PAVEL!!! :cheer:

Ah, I forgot that they did interviews with the leaders after each competition.

Really impressed with how good Pavel's French is. He was more talkative than his wife!

(For that matter, I was also really impressed with Evgenia Lopareva's French earlier in the event).

And that's it for today. But we have a bumper line-up of figure skating tomorrow, admittedly with Short Track Speed Skating in between each segment.

What happened to Ian Vauclin, Maia Mazzara & Mae Berenice Maite?
I saw that Oxana VOUILLAMOZ / Flavien GINIAUX split.

Son says costume is appropriate, that's how the girls at his school dress as well.
I still think it's pretty... non existing.
should maybe add I'm talking about Ninon

Stefania Gladki: Now that was nice! 3F-3T, sparkly piano music, sparkly performance. Maybe a bit juvenile but she seems to be young anyways. Can't remember seeing her before but I'd like to see more. Well done! 60.31, I would have added a point or two more.
Stesha is ex-russian, her coach is Svetlana Panova and she trains in Russia. That's why she is that good.

Ach, 10 minutes after the Warm-Up was supposed to start, and there's still no sign of the stream springing into life. And I can't wait any longer.

Day 5's figure skating action begins by finishing off the categories that started yesterday (albeit with Speed Skating in between them today). First up, we have a group of 6 girls.

As it's dinner time, I'm going to pause the skating until I'm finished eating, and then start playing catch-up.

Livestream for the Senior Ladies FS is now on air.

Here is the link for the archived livestream (starts at 42m 19s):

Here is the Time Schedule:

And here is the live scoring:

Hope this helps

We have a livestream with no life. 🤔

Stesha is ex-russian, her coach is Svetlana Panova and she trains in Russia. That's why she is that good.
Thanks, didn't know that. Her style is indeed very reminiscent of Russian juniors. I wish she could train on the same level in France.

Edit: Ah, speaking of the devil, here's the stream. (y)

Ninon Dapoigny: Cautious skate, still two falls and a handdown. She fought through, but looked frustrated even before it was over. Poor lady, don't worry, it's a work in progress but you do have the spirit you need. 75.20 / 121.56 Total.

Clemence Mayindu: Ambitious approach, but she doesn't quite have the energy. One fall, one handdown and once she almost ran into the barrier, but overall something she can build on and iron out the quirks. Interesting black unitard-like dress with blue applique, fits the African theme and looks quite elegant. 88.11 / 142.14.

Eve Dubecq: Down on the flip. And the lutz. And the loop ... oh dear. Looks frustrated, pops the Axel.

What a pity. She had a very nice flow in the beginning but lost confidence after the falls. It came back a little in the sseq. She has "it" but needs to work on the jumps. 89.55 / 146.69 first place?!

Lea Serna: Cleanish at first, jumps look a lot better than yesterday. Good flow, looks quite elegant at times. Gets tired toward the end, fall on the lutz.

Apart from the fall quite impressive. Maybe a little more stamina needed but she is a contender. 123.16 / 182.81 medal easily secured.

Stefania Gladki: Clean run, typical Russian style, very agile with very good flow. She just doesn't seem to connect very deeply with the tango, it doesn't seem to be "her" music. But what an impressive debut! 124.24 / 184.55 - they don't want to push a 13 year old.

great skate by Stesha :clap::clap::clap:
the program is very good, as well as all programs by Snow Leopards club choreographers.

Just watched Clemence and wanted to add that she was competing at the Golden Spin in Croatia a few days ago. In fact, this is the fourth programme she has done in the space of 6 days (SP on Friday, FS on Saturday, SP on Tuesday, FS on Wednesday). So, that probably played into it.

I really like her.
