I had so much believe in this guy - and he made it! Timofei Shelkovnikov and his first 3A! A bit shame for the step-out, but it was a 3A! Great job, kid! And I really like the music to SP

1) IIRC Dybkova/Khvalko have split. Mistake?

2) What happened to Artemieva/Briukhanov?
27 August - A/B are saying that they are planning to perform quad twist at test skates.
14 September - A/B withdrew from test skates for medical reasons.
20 September - A/B aren't seeded.

Because only top skaters are seeded. The full list of participants is approved on the eve of a competition.

Hmm, the distribution of skaters seems a bit unequal Like, I understand that this can always happen, but for example, the last stage has Kami (2nd at Rus Nats), Liza (3rd at Rus Nats) and Mura (4th at Rus Nats), while the first stage seems much less "crowded".

Im assuming Sofia will be moved out of the 2nd stage, I dont see how she would be ready in a month if she didnt even show her free in test skate and was jumping easier triples then.

Is the seeding done by last year's nationals, or is it by the secret test skates results? If the latter is true then the groups make more sense (based off my interpretation of the test skates).

Sportsmen have the right to choose. Many of them choose late stages, where the competition is greater but they have more time to prepare.

Then thats interesting Akateva chose such an early date.

So... then the question again is posed - why hasn't everyone already been allowed to choose? Why only the test skate participants? Made sense about seeding earlier, but now I dont totally get it. Anyways, I guess its irrelevant.

Athletes have the right to choose, but not all wishes can be fulfilled

Only national team members get stages after national team test skates. Those who are not in the national team, pass qualifying competitions in their regions. For example, now there is the 1st stage of the Cup of St. Petersburg, it is a qualifying competition to get to the 1st and 2nd stages of the GP(R). Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial will be a qualifier for the 3rd and 4th stages, and the 2nd stage of the SPb Cup - for the 5th and 6th stages. So, if Ksenia Gushchina and Sofia Zakharova are entered for the Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial, it means that they will qualify for Stages 3 and 4.
Most likely, these pretty ladies will want to get the second stage, for this they will have to go through another qualifying competition. Either this weekend at the first stage of the SPb Cup, or in October at the second stage of the SPb Cup.

Regional athletes get to the stages through zonal competitions.

To summarize, only national team members can perform on test skates and get their stages, maybe even the stages they want. The rest of the athletes have to be in the top 10 at the qualifiers to go to the stages. The local federations take the top-10 lists and allocate 5 athletes per 2 stage. Thanks a lot. Makes sense. Honestly, not sure why I didn't think about it that way. I guess I just thought Guschina and Frolova did well enough last season to earn a spot on the national team? Weird. Guess not. And Khromykh getting a spot over them threw me off.

I actually hope that Ksenia will improve her last year's result at RusNat and get a chance to make the national team for next season. I hope that the injury she got in the off-season will not prevent her from doing that

Did not Khvalko's brother recently die of meningitis? Maybe he took some time out but he's cracking on now. Bless. I hope so at least, I love them.
When I see these lists, it makes me soooo happy!!!
