2023 World Figure Skating Championships Where Are You Watching?

I am hoping I can watch the ISU Youtube stream in the UK, the BBC have Kat Downes doing the commentary again

Since most of the competitions will be on while I'm asleep on the east coast, replays on the ISU channel (with VPN)) or DVR recordings on USA Network will have to do.

It doesn't look like the free version of Opera is working for me, so I downloaded the free Chrome extension called Urban VPN, set to "The Netherlands" per @Weathergal and all the preview panes for the upcoming programs are appearing on the ISU channel.

I'm watching on Peacock on my tv through my Roku. Probably I'll turn on a vpn and check out the ISU stream. I am really hoping there are some replays available because I am positive I will not stay awake all night!

I almost gave up on watching it since the TV set in my household is broken and live videos from the ISU channel will be geoblocked. But I found the new streaming service called TVer, which is expected to stream it live from 6:30 pm.

I am going to try for ISU stream with Peacock as a backup.
I am also bracing myself for the fact that for some skaters retirement is near and hope that I can enjoy the performances and commentary here without the competitive nationalism getting in the way.
I would like to be able to celebrate what may be the closing skates to some careers.

Some exciting news: Mark will be doing the commentary for the ISU... with Belinda Noonan!
That IS exciting news! I really like Mark and his commentary, and I've heard such great things about Belinda. Not sure if I've actually heard her commentary or not. Plus it will be nice for Mark not to have to do it all solo. That's a tall order for anyone!

I'm so glad it appears to be working for you! Fingers crossed it continues to do so! 🤞

I am not technical and wondered if someone could explain to me how to watch replays on either the ISU YouTube site or using VPN? I really don’t know anything about either or how you connect or if you have to purchase… Any info would be most welcome!

After feeling disappointed that the ISU channel was blocked, I looked to this page and followed the guidance to download the Urban VPN app. I use a Mac so I downloaded it from the Apple Store, launched the app and set my location to the Netherlands, and voila - the ISU channel worked!
For me on my mac I have a one week free trial with the app and then it's going to charge me a subscription fee, so I just need to remember to cancel my subscription at the end of this week when Worlds is done.

So when the ISU YouTube stream ends, will it be available for replay immediately, or will it only be available while it's still going on?

you might try Proton VPN; it's free and available on the app store. I downloaded it this evening for the first time and it's working beautifully. Netherlands is one of their 3 free locations but you can also choose JPN. Living in the US, I've never been able to access the ISU feed before, so I'm a pretty happy camper. ;)

I'm able to rewatch the Pairs SP right away. (with VPN enabled on Opera)

Actually I could rewind the stream while it's still "live", but that's usually the case on youtube.

Thank you for the heads up about the free Proton VPN. I figured out how to use it and access Skating ISU on You Tube. I know there are other available VPN apps that give a free 7-day trial, but you have to give them your credit card info to sign up and then remember to go in and cancel it after seven days so they won’t charge you. This way I don’t have to worry about that! 😋

So glad it worked out for you. Another GS’er mentioned it on a different thread and I was happy to be able to share the info. Enjoy!

Pairs and Dance seem to be at a good time for us West Coasters - Singles, not so much. And dumb Peacock makes it much harder to catch a replay. At least we have USA network and some NBC coverage.
It's like that on CBC Sports as well. As I'm in the Vancouver, BC area and my big interest is in Pairs and Dance, this suits me fine. I spent this evening watching the pairs short, from 6:51 p.m. to..whenever it was when it ended. 10:30-ish? And I'll do the same with the pairs final tomorrow evening, and dance on Thursday and Friday evenings. Singles don't interest me as much and they're being shown live in the middle of the night here. I'll be able to watch the taped version later on CBC, though, and they'll show the biggest highlights of the men and women as video clips the next day on the CBC Sports/Olympics/Figure Skating site. (Who is the woman with the English accent doing the commentating? She didn't introduce herself and was never seen on camera. I do wish someone would gag her while they're actually skating. Could be worse, I suppose. She does at least stick virtually entirely to technical points, and she's alone so there isn't that incessant yacking like duos of infamous memory at competitions decades ago.)

Belinda Noonan. She knows her stuff but can be annoying... I have been watching on French CBC... Alain Goldberg can be biased/annoying too.. .but he is less monotonous.
