1) B/K being eliminated in the first round.
2) A/A being in the second place.

Absolutely shocking results.

Andreeva/Akimov in second is truly shocking for me. I thought they have no chance of going to the second round at all.

I wonder whether they will receive a national team spot. Based on their place at nationals, they should be in the reserve.

But last season the Fed only included 5 ice dance teams from senior nationals as the rest weren't strong, the remaining spots went to juniors. Something like this could happen in pairs this time.

I suppose if the main coach can't be bothered attending, then it ends up reflecting in the performances of the athletes. If Eteri was on the wall, going through the tactics beforehand, maybe even yelling out to her to jump a triple, does Akatieva go through to the final? Yes.

Is there a single pair team outside of Russia that can do a decent split twist? God I've missed that. (The retired Chinese pair and Alexa K had good ones...but since they retired...its been hard to watch pairs)
