2024-25 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 4 - Moscow

So, not that anyone asked my opinion, but I think Russian Men if they are released next year would certainly compete well and secure 3 spots for Russia within 2-3 years far easier than in Kolyada-Samarin-Aliev-Semenenko times. However, they would stay on Grassl's level versus the Malinin-Kaguiyama-Fa level. They will be helped by the bottom falling out on the Japanese and American men, but they will not be able to touch Kagiyama because his scoring is always a moving goal posts always placing him in the lead, even if he falls 2-3 times. The only skater who can score above Kagiyama is Malinin and Malinin has tech that nobody else can dream of. He doesn't just jump a lutz, 3A or a flip, he has incredible ease of performing jumps that allows him mix and match them like damn Lego pieces. Russians did up the number of quads they jump and their types, but none of the Russians have similar facility to Malinin (not to mention his easily projected big personality).

Russian junior men would absolutely get huge leads.

One thing to consider is that Russians had been skating on 6-7 arenas in Russia for the past 3 years, so their results will also be down once they start shipping all over the world on different ice, size and time differences, particularly for men with multiple quads. (If and when they do, and it's a big if)

Maybe, but we'll never know. A really serious competition can do funny things to skaters and performances... If Russian men are having a real chance to claim medals and make an impact, it is now.

I'm not begrudging Malinin his extraordinary skills, but the Russian lads are miles more sympathetic than him - at least for me. Sorry.

Haha.
Ha.

Well the 4Lo is very unlucky for Zhenya. Probably stay with four quads for now? Nobody beats him with four.

As for the result. I checked the results table before it was announced. Otherwise I would die here haha. Well, let's not forget he had a SP and PCS lead. And that Grisha has zero edge calls though there must be many.
