2024-25 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 4 - Moscow

Alisa 🔥
Lena - too many small mistakes to stay in lead today but still very Impressive. Seems like she‘s fine with her nerves atm

Is there a video to watch the top 3 junior ladies? Based on their scores, looks like they had an amazing skate with ultra jumps

🤔 I'm really not sure where the idea that Lena struggles with nerves came from. I think anyone who watched her last season would know that child has nerves of steel.

The top 3 here were as I expected, it was just a question of if Alisa or Lena would win. I don't know about the 9 point gap, but yea, Lena made too many small mistakes to win. But it's good that she was able to land the 3A this time. I think they should leave the program alone now, cause imo, it seems to get worse whenever they alter it...but it will probably still be altered for nats and the final. Good on Lukashova for pulling herself together and making the top 5 here. I was hoping Litvincheva would place higher, but oh well.

Alisa simply too good. That was a brilliant skate. Plushenko lowered the content with Margot out of the picture but a big mistake.

Still, even with better content Lena is not in that top group in terms of skating there is very little to it apart from jumping.

First time watching Shesheleva/Karnaukhov and they were amazing. Technically they were great but their ss/ performance is what really make these two quite special. I usually dont get excited much about junior pairs but they are just different. Im a fan.

You can just tell when someone is a star in the making and these two are making a great case for themselves.

Lena might not be the best interms of ss but Im optimistic because she is polished and not as hopeless as Zhilina interms of performance. She has some spunk in her and that is a good start. A lot of telegraphing but with her content it is expected.

Alisa already skates like a senior lady. She really found her style and identity. She is very polished and mature.

I think Lena's SS are outstanding-especially her speed! I"m not sure why Alisa isn't a senior this year-isn't she 15? When you consider that her program is short by 30sec of senior level, she would have probably scored somewhere in the 167 range-I think today she would have beaten Adeliia.

She would have had about 5 extra points from the StSq, if it was lvl 4. What makes you assume 167? Which is the score of Adeliia's I assume you're comparing?66PCS is fair for that program. A senior should've got the same. Seems Alisa still wouldn't beat Petrosian, even the latter missing a 3A and popped 4F. How is Alisa's best skate this season in a stage relevant to Adeliia at nats last season anyways? Let this season end then compare. Maybe Adeliia will have trouble and Dvoeglazova will reign supreme. But now its totally pointless. We can take a random Valieva skate and say Alisa would've beaten her too, maybe Alisa is the best ever now.

Saying she would've won nats, I'm assuming you meant the FS specifically.

But, I have also been saying for a while that Alisa belongs in seniors anyways. Maybe with a different long program though if she wants to compete in PCS. The SP is fine.

Btw Khusnutdinova has a totally wonderful Biellmann

Kranozheneva 53PCS again seems the judges have a big program with her for some reason. Very very suspiciously incomprehensible scoring.

Plushenko lowered the content with Margot out of the picture but a big mistake.
Not really. If the 3F+3T had been fully rotated, her BV would have been 0.24 points lower, that's not what I call "lowering the content". She did the same jumps, just switched the combos around (+2A+2A in the first half, +3T on the Lutz instead of the 4S).
Still, even with better content Lena is not in that top group in terms of skating there is very little to it apart from jumping.
Maybe in terms of the program composition and presentation, but her skating skills are not any worse than Alisa's, Lidiia's or Agata's.

I'm not sure why Alisa isn't a senior this year-isn't she 15?
RusFed has adjusted domestic eligibility ages to be one year younger than the international eligibility age (For Juniors, this only applies to skaters who are part of the national team. Everyone else has to be 13).
Alisa is 16 now, but she was 15 at the start of the season, and wouldn't be eligible for Seniors internationally until the 2026-27 season.

Thank you thank you Alisa for that brilliant skate the day of my birthday. I’ll remember.
She can be proud of herself, she just shown that she was ready for senior and that’s so a shame she need to wait one year more, because she could be top in senior.
She was just on another planet.

This skate showed also that she won’t let herself be crushed by some young talent.
Amazing
