2024-25 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Saint Petersburg

After 2022/23 I thought M/U were lucky to end up on the national team. There's no way they keep it, right? It was because other couples had health problems, splits and P/V's fall at the end of their free dance at nationals. They didn't even win any medal at the stages even though the field was weak.

After 2023/24 I thought M/U were lucky to keep the spot on the national team. It's all spits again, right? There's no way they are keeping it next season against all the new team and ex-juniors, right?

In 2024/25 I think M/U are not giving their place to anyone. They even "ate" L/G.
they're a class act and it was about time judges noticed them too. they might not be the strongest team technically, but they always bring something new to the table. they had me with their Medusa program and i've been loving them since then

No it wasn't about the judges. They were bombing their TES heavy. They had never skated their RD clean or close to it last season. Aleshin and abroad training camps changed a lot. In 2022/23 they could beat Tyutyunina/Bagin. In 2023/24 they could beat L/G. But they were making mistakes here and there every time or even bombing elements.

They are strong technically! Zhenya has all fours today. They even won BV yesterday. They just couldn't keep it together. The only poor element is the twizzles.

congratulations to the medalists but especially to Katya and Zhenya :love2:
...
wait a moment...there's not figure skating this week...

what am i supposed to do with my life?

bye for now, love you all 😘

The last group was very worth watching! Fantastic stuff from and congrats to all. :love3:
Happy about the gold for Liza and gorgeous Egor. It was close.

Another enjoyable 7 hours of skating. That is it for the GP stages for another season. It has been good.

I have the juniors to get through from this stage and only up to the fourth stage of the international GP, so a little skating to watch still.

BVs:
Mironova/Ustenko 47.17
Shcherbakova/Goncharov 47.16
Khudaiberdieva/Bazin 46.80
Rybakova/Makhnonosov 46.05
Shichina/Drozd 45.41
Kaganovskaia/Nekrasov 45.29
Churkina/Frolov 44.67
Leontieva/Gorelkin 43.79

I appreciate M/U and S/G winning BVs of both dances.

Kh/B and R/M much better than yesterday.

L/G always had weak levels and it started killing them. Making a national team is going to be difficult or even impossible.
