2024-25 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Saint Petersburg

Milto 29PCS is truly amazing.

Well, actually it isnt, not anymore... unfortunately.
My opinion is her PCS score-she got hosed. Would have had Milto in 1st PCS. She had a great program, interesting unique choreo, cool transitions, and skated with great maturity and speed. Margo is a great talent-but her SP-well it was one of the worst ones today in terms of choreo, skating skills etc. Some of the team Eteri kids have great programs this year, but Margo isn't one of them. She is also barely 13, so PCS will come in time, but I would have had her around 27, and that would have been generous.

Hosed is a funny term, I will start using it now thank you haha. Prineva is amazing she deserves around the same range as Milto generally but not in these programs specifically. I think Milto wins the SP its way more unique like you say and she had a borderline flawless performance. Great transitions, no stumbles and held the atmosphere. Milto was very creative and cognizant, Prineva a bit predictable. Bazyluk generally deserves high SS for how fast she is but ranking her over Milto in the other two categories is insane. Especially presentation cause after the messed up jump Rita stopped trying she skated way worse than normal. The scoring in general has been egregious lately. Then again I cant complain too much I heard some guy in internationals got a 4 PR score haha not sure if it was deserved. Dzepka has good PR but the CO is a no, how do they score that banal program over Milto? We rarely get creative moments especially in juniors its terrible they hose her for it.

I would score as follows:

Dzepka CO 7.25 PR 7.75 SS 8.25 = 30.92
Prineva CO 7.5 PR 8.00 SS 8.25 31.59
Bazyluk CO 6.75 PR 6.5 SS 7.50 = 27.60
Milto CO 8.5 PR 8.5 SS 7.75 = 32.58

Im going off memory I could've skewed Prineva's scores but I think thats pretty much fair. Dzepka I dont like her program at all but objectively its choreographically dense and she confidently sells it. Bazyluk not sure if I'm harsh I enjoyed her before maybe the CO could be slightly more but based on todays performance I'd give her that. Is her SS a little high? She was very fast and light at first but again she gave up later. I think Milto isnt that fast not sure if I bricked her SS, but the other two have gorgeous SS she cant be higher than them and placing them even higher would put them too close to elite seniors which they dont deserve; I gave them both 8.25 I think Prineva's glide is faster but Dzepka has a smoother and deeper edge.

Prineva was glorious today. I would have had her pretty much tied with Milto PCS wise. And yes, I would have had the breakdown pretty much as you have it- with Bazyluk at 26/27-

My impression was that Prineva's choreo was off music in SP by quite a lot. It almost didn't really feel like the program was meant for this song or something. Dunno, maybe the vocals are too distracting or something.

I’m actually very chocked to have witnessed 2 falls from Margo.
Btw she seemed very tired during her program, I’m not sure she fully recovered from last week.
I hope she won’t be so upset, it just wasn’t her day.

Let’s go Alena, you can take the gold!!!

Plushenko’s girls are landing 3A, eteri’s girls are failing quads.

(Just a joke, no offense pls)

I really wish for Plushenko’s girls success greatly, but their girls are not doing the very beautiful spins compared to ones from Eteri which make them i think losing points here and there. It requires finesses, delicacy in everything they do on the ice.

Very pretty program by dzepka. I appreciate her more than last year.
In another level on terms of maturity, unfortunately she’ll be 2 years more in junior.
The podium was very unpredictable. I’m very happy for Alena, my favorite here. I hope it will give her some confidence.

So so so cool for lyubov, very nice to see her at that level on a comeback season.

Very unexpected loss for Margo but I’m sure she’ll bounce back very soon.

I’m honestly satisfied with the results because I know Margo will have tons of podium more, and not lyubov.

I don't' know what they were thinking with Margo's programs. Carmine Burana? Most men can't pull Carmine Burana off. Maybe Kaori.

I only caught the last group of girls so far in the free. I didn’t watch the short yet but will when I have time.

Aliona Prineva was gorgeous! I’m happy she landed the 4T after falling on the 4Lz. Hoping for a clean skate in the free one day where she lands all her quads.

I’m shocked about Margo 😱 She’s human so this was bound to happen eventually since she’s pushing the max ultra-c out of all the girls. Hopefully this is the last of it and she has full strength and steely nerves by Nationals. I’m still proud of her for fighting. After she fell on the solo 3A she risked a potential +REP by going for it again but she still went for it in a 3T combo.

Dzepka has beautiful landings. It’s nice that she got rewarded for her nice performance.

Kira landed her 3A and 4S. I’m so happy for her though I’m not sure about the protocol regarding under rotations and q’s. I didn’t check protocols yet but her scores today seem a bit low for her jump content. Her PCS is debatable.

Lyubov has massive triple axels! She caught my eye in the warm-up with her axels immediately when I started watching. I wish she had smoother landings on them though (like Dzepka) so she could get higher GOE. Then afterwards upgrade to include a creative entry like a spread eagle or Kosto’s rocker counter edge change entry into her massive 3A. After that a good exit out of the smoother landings (like Adeliia’s out of her 3A in the short). With such a big triple axel if she refines it well matching the music with creative entry/exit and a smooth landing she should be able to reach +5 GOE. Great height and distance!

Really enjoyed the last group today.
