2024-25 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Saint Petersburg

Gosh, gorgeous outing by junior women. I am carefully optimistic that Rubtzova's power build means that 3A is going to stay with her for the next few years. I didn't remember Monogarova, but now I do, particularly with that beloved music. Milto did less for me than for other folks here, but she was also making mistakes and it might have impacted her. About the only really dark moment was Bazyluk chosing to compete on fresh injury; while it's understandable she wants to stay in the competition she could have easily prioritized junior Nationals, skipped the cup final and everyone would have been happier for it. I liked this free for Prinvea far more than her short, it looked far more organically to me. And, Dzepka was simply sublime with that characteristic unrushed on music everything. Me, happy

It looks like the bronze goes to Tyumen. Always nice to see men from smaller cities succeeding since men's singles is not really developed outside of Moscow/SPb.

ok i would say for Nikita SARNOVSKY, after 1 year break, his come back is a success even though he wont get high GOE or good PCS i think.

She is also barely 13, so PCS will come in time, but I would have had her around 27, and that would have been generous.
I'm sorry, this is such a nitpick, but Margarita actually turns 14 in 4 months, so I wouldn't consider her barely 13. But yes, I don't consider her to be an artistic skater at all, but she's still very young, so plenty of time to improve. She was certainly overscored in the pcs aspect here, imo. I don't think she should have gotten higher pcs than Kira and Diana. Also, I was very surprised to see her somewhat disastrous performance here. Maybe they pushed her too soon and she hasn't fully recovered from her injury yet. But of course, she's not a robot, everyone has their bad days

It was nice to see Prineva actually land one of her quads, but these programs still just don't do her justice :bed:
Dzepka was lovely, and I really look forward to seeing her in seniors (which I believe will be in 2 seasons, since she has a late birthday), same with Lyubov. Though, I don't think Lyubov has nearly the same maturity as Dzepka, but if she keeps that 3A consistent, she'll certainly be fighting for a place on the podium at every comp. I also greatly enjoyed little Yana here. Shame she didn't qualify for anything, but I'm sure we'll see her at novice nats

idk if it's just me, but Prineva's fp dress reminds me of the one Anna had for her fp during the 20/21 season

Monogorova is talented but Plushenko should be imprisoned at least for a few days, for letting her skate that HIDEOUS cover!! Cant they just use the original waltz? Honestly! Ruined!

Rubtsova amazingly consistent axel but why the solo 3T?

Prineva still deserves a way better program but its not terrible and shes good enough to make it enjoyable.

Dzepka easily skate of the night she is senior level. Very obviously a different level from everyone else. They need to keep giving her this sort of music unlike her SP then she might become my favourite junior. Its incredible to watch. She could've got even higher PCS honestly one judge only gave her 7.75 PR I would give her at least 8.25.

Looks like Akateva was farming 4Ts in the training I think we could see a couple at this stage
