2024-25 Russian Grand Prix - Stage 5 - Saint Petersburg

And, next the event of the day for me. Boi/Koz vs Mish/Gal you can't see better pair skating. I don't even bother watching the international pair events because I just can't. I've read all these comments about how pair skating is TOO HARD and should be watered down in content because it's too hard for the skaters. It's only too hard for those who can't do it.

A preview of the world championship next month.

They should have had them at every GP event and make it a best of 5 contest

Petrosian who will be 18 next season I cannot fathom losing form, Akatieva seems on the road to recovery will be 18 next season, Valieva who was for all intents an adult woman last season at 17.5 and during a traumatic period maintained great form in her short program, was able to land her 4T 50% of the time in training but clearly wasn't as invested as previous seasons (understandable I probably would not make it out of bed carrying the burden she carried for nearly two years). Still she has every intention of returning at age 19 and in her shows has shown great form.

Eteri might soon have the title of best coach of adult women in the world. Thoughts?
It was always my hill to die on another site. I was explaining for years, that Eteri's stars are retiring not because she destroys them physically by 18, but just because they win everything early, and it happened for several years that upcoming girls are even better. But this trend can't last forever, a new normal for women content with quads will be reached. Plus we have a ban, so older girls can't even win anything besides RusNats, so, not so much point to retire early, if you can keep skating and see the level of women FS in the world, where Kaori is still queen.

The Madame sitting at the Kiss and Cry section i think must be the mother of Vladislav DIKIDZHI? she must be proud of her son.

I know this is terrible-but sometimes it is fun to watch the really bad pairs. (And there are many this year) They are so bad...that they are entertaining.

Who is the man in the beige duffel coat? currently with Moskvina's group group, he was with Petr in the men's too :scratch2:

SBS jumps are too hard for pair skaters. Bite me.

I'm going to think positive that Russian skaters will be at the Olympics (or a miracle at worlds this spring). But in either case they can only send one skater/team. I'd hate to be the one making the choice.
