2024-25 U.S. Pairs Figure Skating

McBeath/Parkman are in the ISP now 🥳

I'm glad he has his release now.

Do skaters need to be in the ISP to get a host spot at Skate America? If not, how will they decide between McBeath/Parkman, Shin/Nagy and Martins/Bedard? Are there set criteria for it?

I'm not sure if there are set criteria from USFS for host spots. I think last year they had a skate-off for a TBD Women spot between Ava Marie Ziegler and Claire Seo. Ava Marie Ziegler won the skate-off, but didn't get the spot since she was high on the alternates list and USFS was counting on her getting a spot that way as per TSL.

I'd guess that they'd favour McBeath/Parkman since they have a 5th place finish at Nationals with a broken blade. Shin/Nagy haven't competed yet, so their potential as a team is theoretical right now. No idea if Martins/Bedard are in consideration.

This is great news! I'm glad to hear it. McBeath/Parkman should probably receive the SA spot.

I was wondering whether Audrey and Balasz might be able to get another GP possibly as returning skaters, since they have both competed on the GP previously (Shin in ladies singles, of course, and Balasz in pairs last season with Chelsea Lui).

No, the returning split couple rule is only for teams in which (at least) one of the skaters has placed in the top 12 at Worlds with their former partner in the last 2-3 years.
Efimova/Mitrofanov would be such a team, but they only received a spot at SkAm so far.

Another way to get assignments as a new team (if you don't qualify for the returning split couple rule) is to win a Challenger. The team in question will be added to the alternates list and could well end up receiving a spot or two if other teams withdraw/host spots aren't filled and placed back in the general pool of spots.

McBeath/Parkman training a program to Josh Groban's 'Per Te', but no official announcement of music or what program they are working on. They are looking good, though. Much smoother in their flow over the ice together.

I would expect to see these teams—at least some of them, anyway—at the John Nicks competition in
New York this September, along with other candidates for the spot.

Getting into the ISP is the minimum. Note, though, that pairs are the only discipline where they allow the team to send in a video for consideration to see if they can get a minimum score for the ISP, whereas other disciplines need the skater/team to get the minimums via a competition.

Naomi Williams and Lachlan Lewer announced their free program music, choreographed by Drew Meekins.

Fitzpatrick/Bearinger also got on ISP✨

Siianytsia if I remember correctly- already skated to My Immortal in novice with Smirnova

Reportedly, Cayla Smith's coach has said Cayla now has a pairs partner who came from singles. Cayla is competing in novice singles while training with her new partner, who has to be brought up to speed with learning pairs elements. The identity of Cayla's new partner has not yet been revealed.

Meanwhile according to Mazie MacFarland's IG, she has split with Jordan Gillette, and has partnered with a Canadian skater. Her Canadian partner looks familiar in the IG clip, but his name is not provided.

Does anyone have any further info on these developments?

The Fort Wayne Ice Skating Club posted a picture on their Facebook page with some club members preparing for ice show pictures. Perhaps the guy standing next to Cayla Smith is her new pairs partner. https://m.facebook.com/FortWayneIceskatingclub/

Thanks @midori green , that's a cute group picture. Looks like from the costumes that they were skating in a fairytale show. Perhaps Cinderella or Snow White? 🤔 Probably, Cinderella, based on everyone's costumes! Cayla is in a ballgown with a tiara. And one little girl appears to be dressed as a pumpkin which turned into a coach. LOL! ☺️

I think I see Mary Poppins and also Elsa/Anna/Olaf, so I agree with a fairy tale theme. 😃

I think the orange costume might actually be Nemo.

Was lurking on another site, and came across a thread with video of Balázs and Audrey working on throws:
