I will add that there is a large pedestrian zone in the center of town, and the area between the rink and the pedestrian zone has so many tourists walking and so few vehicles that it is very easy to walk through.Oberstdorf is quite small, so you can walk anywhere within 30 minutes.
You can take everything in, drinks, food and professional cameras. There is also a booth where you can buy sandwiches, donuts and drinks.
For photos, the best seats are behind the judges, but you don't see the Kiss&Cry and the filming Camera can be in the way.
The seats can be quite hard after a while, so a pillow or a blanket can be useful too.
And if you want to buy things in town, you should do it early, because some shops close already in the afternoon and supermarkets close at 8 pm.
Also, the base station for the Nebelhornbahn (gondolas to the peak of the Nebelhorn) is about 0.1 kilometers from the rink entrance, so if there is a sunny day and you want to get out of the rink for a while to see the views, that is an easy option.
I was going to recommend the Nordsee restaurant within a kilometer from the rink as a good place to get a quick, buffet-style seafood meal during a break in the skating, but I see on Google Maps that it has permanently closed.
