I agree about sending him to a low pressure event to compete just so he can get his confidence back, before worlds. The GPF was a disaster for him and his Nationals was worse. I honestly thought that he had not emotionally recovered from that skate at GPF and his Nationals was the following week meant that he had no time to process everything yet. But this is far more worrying because he should have been able to move on by this point. At this point I think he needs take a week or two off the ice and figure out what he needs to do to get his skating back to level it was before GPF. He can do that but he has to have the will to do so. Unless he is injured if he is see if it will be healed by the time of worlds, if not withdraw now.Like, I do not want to be that person, but maybe the French Federation should not have assigned Kevin to Euros? And especially not both Euros and Worlds, they should have sent him to Challenge Cup or Bavarian Open, something low stakes and low pressure, because this is not it.
I don't know what's going on with him, and I'm not sure how to help him, but this is the third competition in a row ending in disaster.
Yeap!Is this a first time an Estonian skater has received a small medal?
Just catched up with the men.
Kevin was SO hard to watch. Obviously the guy has some serious mental health issues and I can't think of anything worse than having that and it goes on display for all the world to see. Please somebody, he needs help, and having him skating at Euros is NOT helping.
Thrilled to see my boy A Selevko killing it. He was absolutely amazing!
Also glad that my Swedish guys did ok, hopefully we will have one of them in the top 10 again.
But Kevin....I leave this short program with a disturbing worrying feeling.
65.06. I was closeLast year the cut off was 62.49. This year , maybe 65.52??
What?
Long recovery time ahead for Matteo, if this post is accurate.
I just watched - I really, really like this program and this version of Hallelujah on Deniss! That was skated with verve. However, Hallelujah, usually no, and this version, def no.

He popped his opening jump, fell on his 3A, did a 3Lz with only a single for the combo, and gave up and got no credit on a spin. It was tough watching it live, and I'd advise anyone who hasn't watched it yet to not watch it.I started scrolling down and didn't see Kevin's name, and the more scrolling down I did, the more worried I became. When I did find him, oh my goodnessI'm actually kind of scared to ask this, but I do not know if I will find a replay of his skate and if I'll have the spirit to watch it, so, well, what happened?
The SP had worked for him so far, but now, he won't be even be able to skate the free and try to have a redemption skate there. I really hope his emotional and mental state was not as bad as at the French Nats, but with a result like this, on top of those of last month, I'm quite worried about him....![]()
We don't know what's going on with Kevin - whether it's injury, mental health, a seriously ill family member or something I haven't immediately thought of - but something clearly isn't right at the moment. I had hoped that the GPF/French nationals were just a bad week, but what happened today suggests that was more than just a little blip. I think he needs a bit of time out of the spotlight because, for whatever reason, he does not appear to be coping at the moment. The way he is skating recently reminds me of the season when he came back from injury too early, and that seemed to do a lot of damage to his confidence. I care more about his longer-term wellbeing than I do about short-term success this season. There can be situations where competitions can be a useful distraction from other issues, but they don't appear to be helping Kevin at the moment - he just seems to be losing confidence and getting upset.Obviously you cannot possibly know what's going on with him and that is just a claim and a statement that's unappropriate.

Obviously I can't. But unappropriate? So what shall I do? Turn a blind eye on? I've seen a lot of mental health issues in my day, the worst thing to do is to NOT acknowledge it.Obviously you cannot possibly know what's going on with him and that is just a claim and a statement that's unappropriate.
Absolutely. We can all stop giving lip service to mental health now.
It was obvious that Kevin needed some time off after the French nationals debacle, but some of his fans were insistent that he had to be named to the Euro team. They wanted to see him skate, evidence that it wouldn't be good for him be damned.
I won't lay the blame on Kevin, even though he's an adult and capable of making his own decisions. I always admire an athlete with a competitive mindset. But there should have been a responsible adult on his coaching staff or the Federation who should have stepped in and pulled the plug.
