2024 Finlandia Trophy: Info and pre-game chat

Thank you @Lyyli and @TT_Fin ! :thank: I'm coming on Wednesday and leaving on Sunday, so I'll need to get either a 5-day AB ticket plus two single ride tickets for the airport journey, or a 5-day ABC ticket. I'll see what they have in the airport R-kioski (if one is still there - I hear they've redesigned the airport recently). I'll buy the standard HSL tickets for my companion, then, thanks for your confirmation.

About the Finlandia discount, I really hope you're right, and the 65+ age is applicable. Where I'm from, sometimes they want to see your ID, sometimes not, so we'll have it ready, and hope it's enough. They really should have spelled out the rules for elderly foreigners.

The restaurant recommendations all sound great, I need to check out their websites! ^ ^

@TT_Fin or anyone who knows. For Finlandia trophy 2023 they wanted us to knit again. https://www.finlandiatrophy.com/en/2023/05/22/nytneulomaan/. But I didn’t see the medalists with mittens. Did they get them? Are there pictures? I sent a pair. It’s not that I have to see a skater with my mittens, even if it had been fun of course. But I expected a ’thank you for your mittens that we have received’ or something like that. And if they weren’t given to the skaters… where did they go :scratch2:

wow, I feel sorry for the skaters affected. They won't be getting money for their gala performances. And for the audience members who were looking forward to the gala.
And now also no all events... With Finlandia Challenger, having an all event ticket meant being able to access practices. So if that's the same for this GP, it means very little chance for fans to greet skaters from relative proximity.
I dont know anything about skating but in the last century, the top 3 in each disipline HAD to attend the gala or be fined unless sick or injured. So now have things changed and there are no longer requirements and they are paid?

It's stupid not to have galas. What draws people to watch figure skating if they don't know much about the sport/don't care about competitions? I think it's stuff like ice shows and galas. My boyfriend doesn't care about the sport at all but he went to the Varese show with me and he will also come to the Nebelhorn gala.
It depends on the place and time. At a certain skate america in Western WA where PaulE and I attended, the gala was so poorly sold that they told anyone who wanted to could stay for the gala.

Golubeva/Giotopoulos Moore 🇦🇺 OUT. Anastasia posted on her IG that she has a COVID infection and that it affected their preparations.
Ouch. Wish them well. One of the odd things about one of the new strains is that you cant sleep, which doesnt help.....but everyone is different. Some of my seven friends who got one of the 4 new strains had very light cases. I had zero reaction to the new shot. Lets hope she recovers fast from the fatigue.

AB for 5 days costs 27 euros, ABC 33 euros. Not that much difference. So ABC is the cheaper option for you of those two.

Safe trip to all of you who are coming!!!

Why is there no synchro event at Finlandia this year?

I went looking on the official Finland's page

But nothing.

However, I found this:

Some of this info may be useful for those attending the event.

It was on the schedule at first for Sunday. I wonder did ISU not accept it this time because Finnish Fed postponed the ticket sales and I was told they waited for ISU confirmation for the schedule.

I have forgotten the mitten campaign 2023 totally. Now I didn´t find any pictures either. Did they get only a few pairs and gave them to some medalists backstage? I don´t believe they were wasted. Someone got yours too!

There was supposed to be a Synchro event at Sunday & Monday and I think it is why a part of GP is on Sunday. But the Sunday event is cancelled., so I also tought maybe ISU told not to mix the events. According to the competition calendar there is a free program competition on Monday, but I have not seen any marketing of it in weeks. Also marketing the GP has been very minimal.

I heard nothing about it last season. On some previous seasons there were articles and I saw some skaters also to wear them. I also sent a pair and it would have been nice to know. There was told if they get more mittens than there are skaters, they will give extra pairs to charity.
