Was there a reality show called Who Wants to Find the Worst Cruise Ship Piano Version of Danse Macabre?

Because this music totally won it.
Hem, hem, that was Liszt and Horowitz. OTOH,
this piano arrangement turns it into some show off piece and there is no more macabre to it... and barely anything left from the dance.
Liszt and show off... 🤔 yeah, this sounds about right.

I'm so glad to see Adam and Benoit have actually watched Dune, because I recognize a lot of the choreography from the film and its associated music. That scene where he dies on the ice is actually from the movie - the main character also dies and is then reborn - and they use my favourite piece of music from the whole movie at the start of the second half. I'm not sold on the music editing after the step sequence (why is there that random violin piece), but apart from that you can already see how effective the program is, and that's with a bit of a messy skate. He's only 13 or so points off the title - he'll need others to make mistakes, but it's not impossible if everyone splats.
100% agree here! It really shows when a skater and choreographer have both watched a movie. This is my favourite Dune program so far this year, all the others (in other disciplines too) seem to lack enough storytelling imo. The music choice and cutting is also better, the vocals (first heard in the movie when Paul passes the Gom Jabber test) happening on the quad Lutz was utter perfection. It's a pivotal moment in the first movie and if used in a program it needs to be highlighted in an epic manner. The resurrection scene choreo was also well done. Its little tiny details like that that set Adam and Benoit's Dune above the others and unfortunately its only something that skating fans who also saw the movies can appreciate.

And yes, after the step sequence I think they took music from Arcane (according to the music info) which I did not vibe with either. Like why? So yeah, I think the latter part of the program left me a bit disappointed because I know it could have been better if they stuck with the Dune soundtrack all the way through. But the first half or two thirds of the program was great (minus the pop) so overall, I did enjoy it, especially the perfectly timed landings on the musical accents. You don't get that in ice dance 😉

Where's the downgraded jump on Shimada? Nowhere. Shimada had 3 level 4's. Shaidorov had only one. Shaidorov's SSQ was so weak he couldn't even muster a level 3.

Be serious.
And Shimada only jumped one quad, and that a toe, and messed up more jumps. Shaving off this much GoE for qs suck big time. So get over yourself. This tech panel couldn't even tell quad from triple, what professionalism can you expect from them. Bah.

What a horrible event!
After watching this free skate, I wish I could get my time back…

Adam was gifted this win. I can’t believe this was enough for a gold medal.
I would have had, Andrew in second, and Kazakhstan dude in third.

Also, the skaters from Orser camp are not skating well this season.

What am I missing about Torgashev’s flying sit spin being invalidated? Did he not achieve the required number of revolutions or was the sit spin position not achieved/low enough? It appears low enough to me, so color me confused.

I love "Danse Macabre" (which I get confused with "Masquerade Waltz" sometimes), but I don't care for this version of it (kind of a "Muzaky"version of it - I DO love piano music, but not in this case). Congrats to all of the medalists. I'm not surprised that Adam rebounded (after seeing him live @ Worlds in Montreal). Thrilled for Andrew! I love watching ALL of the Japanese men & women. I was hoping that Camden & Lukas would have had more successful free skates. I wish Boyang would have skated lights out in the free, but I'm glad he didn't look devastated as he was after the short program @ Worlds. Anyway, skaters, please stay healthy - ALL of you!

The tech panel gaslighted Mark into thinking it was a 3A-3T as well, poor Mark was profusely apologizing during the replay
And the rest of us! I was really excited then felt "awww'' when the 3A-3T came up.

Oh and they also called his quad flip a Lutz and put a +REP on it.

I'm wondering if they bothered to correct themselves because they gave Mikhail an obsencely low tech score that seemed like a big F-you in particular to him, they did much the same thing to him at World's last season.

On the plus side I was so peeved I finally managed to solve the Solitaire game that's been giving me grief for days so at least there's that.

I have seen Boyang yet, I hope he doesn't implode, but I have a bad feeling...

Just caught up. Adam does it again! Surprised and delighted by Koshiro coming second, although as museksk8r pointed out, he made a few silly jump mistakes and came across as a bit hesitant. Sad for Kazuki - hopefully his jumps will stabilize later in the season, he is so fun to watch. Jaw-dropping 3A-4T from Shaidorov! Unfortunately, his incredible jumps just seem to highlight glaring shortcomings in skating skills, spins, etc. He's still quite young, though, so looking forward to seeing him develop. Andrew Torgachev was a delightful surprise for me - haven't seen much of him before, but liked what I saw - smooth, elegant, appearing relaxed and confident, taking the minor mistakes in his stride. Didn't realise his flying sit spin was invalidated.
