2024 NHK Trophy Men's Free Skate

Interpreter, please. Translators translate text (I am one).

Oops. Sorry. :slink:

I didn't actually realise there was a difference in what the terminology referred to. I thought they were inter-changable.

But thank you for enlightening me. It's amazing what you learn on a figure skating forum!

By the way, there is another forum about broadcasting that I am not a member of but I do read regularly. And some of the members get very tetchy and snarky whenever somebody innocently refers to a person who puts up satellite dishes as an "engineer" rather than an "installer".

At least we are more pleasant where correcting people on here.

Thank you for correcting me!

:thank:

Grasll music takes it to a new level of absurdity along with judges over looking his URs (this time ) and his PCS for what was effectively walking ever so slowly between the jumps.

Johnny and Tara (repeat of FS on NBC right now) just mentioned Andrew's UR on element 1, but not Grassl's. Their decision was my own - lack of cameras. The judges have only one camera. Tennis dealt with this nonsense until a new standard was put in place so balls were called in or out more reliably. (Anyone remember John McEnroe yelling at a line judge "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!") Skating needs more technology/ cameras, too. While that is obvious, unfortunately there are those who prefer to conjure up absurd conspiracy theories in their heads to benefit their pet skaters.
