2024 NHK Trophy Men's Free Skate

Satoko handing out the Medals!!! :cheer:

Although I don't think they factored in that she is quite small, and the steps are quite high, so she has to really stretch to put the medals on them.

Daniel was nearly bent double when she was putting the medal on him! :drama:

well... i m going to bed .... i gave it all up for the boys and they wrecked my preds LOL

honestly, i know some people don't like my chiddy.. but he told it loud and proud : too many quads (and back then, for him it was 3... imagine now) and we don't have programs anymore.... and this is what we are seeing this season. Skate skate skate JUMP... for 3 minutes.. then the programs start...

anyways...it's almost 5 am... so i better stop chatting... too tired and probably no longer making any sense.
Makes sense to me for what that is worth. 😅

I was already depressed because of "stuff" going on in the US but now I'm extra sad

Poor Kao...:console:

His goal this season is to make the Worlds team again and have a more successful outcome than last time
I think he's probably worried that not qualifying for GPF will keep him off the Worlds team since it's part of the criteria

But he needs to learn when to stop and take care of himself

Oh f I got reminded of this I want to die a thousand times over
I know it's very nervewracking (and likely depressing) to you hhhhh. Even I, who am not a Junhwan fan, felt really deflated when the Japan entries were out... I really want the AWG win for him, and when he had his FS as Loco I really thought it was meant to be since Shoma won it also with Loco 😭

Korean fans were going "since it's close to the major championships they could send their lower ranked skaters" and then the entries came out... I really can't breathe when I'm reminded of it and I'm 100% going to die when the thing actually happens, I swear. I'm surprised that you know the criteria to military exemption by the way, not many who aren't invested in a Korean know them.

I agree. Also I think it's probably for the best for Kao to have his injury seriously impact his performance and results now, instead of gritting out everything and making it look like he can compete injured and his skates are "okay" . We have seen what happened to Rika Kihira when she competed like that, and her body gave up at the most crucial moment which was the Olympic season.

So I really hope Kao thinks about this long term, and take care of himself first. He has potential, and more importantly, he still has the time to make his case for 2026. But it won't help him if he's too broken to compete.

I am not sure 3 Japanese men will make GPF... so if only two make it, Kao still has a shot for worlds. I don't want to make predictions (other than the game some of us play) but I expect that many with a good outing in their first event will have a not so good one in the second one, except for Yuma and Adam who will probably win their events... So it's anyone's game... it would be Ilia, Yuma, Adam, and then... who knows

I'm not that big of a fan of Jun but I'm very invested in him avoiding the military service... because I think he should spend that time doing something more useful, like making good programs and skating and competing. And also because he's the first Korean man to win a GPF AND a World medal, damn it! Why didn't it count for this???

The word is JSF allowed the skaters to submit their application on whether they want to compete at AWG and picked the best out of the submitted applications... and Yuma and Shun applied.

Also please don't die- who is going to send love to your darling and beloved and tesoro and squirtle in the threads? It's going to be painful but who knows, there may be a miracle (or maybe Junhwan will become an Olympic medalist one day...)

My darling squirtle is (sob) retired so while I still love her with all my heart she's not on the list of 'skaters mentioned in Ichat's dying words', but while my beloved and my tesoro may not have any other fans on this forum my darling is loved, maybe not as fanatically as I do but he is adored by many. He'll be fine without me.

If Harbin and Milano fail to give him the exemption he will almost certainly have to shave his head, 2029 AWG is not 100% guaranteed and who knows what shape his ankle would be in then... I hate JSF for one more reason now, they're making my darling's and my life even more difficult

Also, GPF and WC medals don't factor in even with college admission, of course they're not going to let you not go to the military which every man hates but complies because it's the law

AWG is literally a week before 4CCs, February 12th-14th
There's enough time
As long as he takes it slow and is able to avoid aggravating his injury he should be in good condition by then
In top form he's already proven he's fully capable of competing with the other leading Men
We all know he's one of the best
Wishing him good health and a full recovery!

I apologize for being off thread topic

It's odd, yesterday was so good and today - though far and away still the best so far - has felt like a bit of a letdown all round...

Nice to see Satoko again though I have seen her in shows of course...
