2024 Skate America Pairs SP

That death spiral looked like it was beat with an ugly stick. Other than that and the costumes that looked like they were borrowed from an ice dance couple (her leggings), I liked that quite a bit. Great jumps and good speed across the ice. Should be a very easy first place.

as my friends and I have said in the past: "got kissed by the Ugly Fairy...on both cheeks!"

Well, here of course for the last one of the first group. The Georgians had great technique and were even projecting and performing, but as someone who lived through the 80s, what did the workout clothes have to do with the tune that I had never heard of?

Georgian team got a very good component score for the program with no connection between music, choreography and costumes, which are ugly as always. They are very well trained though.

Does Eteri try to escape Russia ? She is always with the Georgian team skater ?
If anyone deserves to stay there...lol. but no, her school has a complex partnership with Perm' school, Tran'kov, Tikhonov and now basically has 3x more pair coaches than singles coaches.

After hearing Danny O'Shea's interview recently on a podcast, he is so level headed and engaging, I will root for them even more. :) Always liked Tarah and Danny. Not crazy about the age difference with Ellie, but at this point they are both adults.

Come now, El, we know you still have those pink leg warmers and headbands in the back of your closet

4. Anastasiia METELKINA / Luka BERULAVA 🇬🇪
Why by Bronski Beat, choreo by Sergei Plishkin

3Tw4 (so high and effortless)
3FTh (struggles slightly to get the free leg back)
3S
4Li3
StSq4
BoDs2 (long entry, looked like they were behind the music)
FCCoSp (quite out of sync and travelled)

SP: 68.64 (1st)

These programs are so much better than last season - it's fun without feeling too juniorish. This team is so fast, although they had some struggles in the step sequence with drifting apart and losing some speed on the turns. Unfortunately, after the steps, it started to go off the rails a bit - perhaps they got too excited? Anastasia's shoulders are very heavily taped - hopefully she's ok.

not sure why Eteri is here with them. she's not on their coaching bio. not a fun surpise.
I think Pavel Sliusarenko is connected with her school ever since she got involved with Tarasova / Morozov and now Boikova / Kozlovskii.
