Janire IDIAKEZ (ESP) had a 1 point deduction, and goes into 17th position with a score of 29.53.

OK, so it is her second lowest SP score of the season. But given that she is a complete unknown to the international Judges, it's pretty good that it is comparable to her last outing in Spain.

I'm sure she's just delighted to be getting the opportunity to compete internationally again.

I just noticed something.

The two skaters representing Serbia in Junior Ladies, #25 Larisa ANTONIĆ in Group 5 and #39 Dunja TREŠNJIĆ in Group 7, are both from Novi Sad, the capital of Vojvodina.

Vojvodina is the only region of the former Yugoslavia that has not since gained independence, and is instead still in federation with Serbia.

It's always interesting finding out which region of a country that people are from. Well, I find it interesting anyway!

After the marathon that was the Junior Ladies SP, we conclude our Junior double-bill with chaos! 10 boys, arranged into two groups of 5.

Poor Stavrina : first event out and nerves took her out... doubled the lutz, fell on the first jump of her combo and popped the axel into an invalid move. So there. Lack of experience for sure. I didn't expect her to be near the top but she is a stronger than what she showed here.

That's it from the Juniors for today. Now it is time to start the Seniors. 13 girls; followed by a group of 4 boys. The 13 girls are arranged into two groups of 4; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 5.

3Lz … I knew Nationals SP was a semi fluke shaky landing on this jump. It is not in her arsenal. So, that was expected.
But, I don’t expect a fall on her combo. Her 3T 2T is usually so solid. Then, her 1A… she didn’t land a 2A at all, at Nationals. Considering she has some triple jumps, I don’t understand her struggles with the axel. But, it is clearly a jumping element she needs work on. 21st is a disappointment for sure. This probably seals her chances for selection for JGP next season. Even if she skates top 6 at NextGen, SC won’t select her due to this international performance, unless she is in the top 4 (which is nearly impossible for her).

I hope she skates a free skate like at Nationals. I hope she enjoys her LP. There is a strong chance, this will be her last international event in her career. I don’t see her ever being top 6 Junior, in the next three seasons, due to the competition, for Canada and then for Seniors, if you don’t skate over 166 domestically, you will never be sent to an international event .

Well... let's not be overly dramatic.. Of course, considering Skate Canada is super stingy sending athletes out, this doesn't look good for Stavrina.. but if she wants to keep going, she will keep going and improve and will eventually get sent again. Of course, they are not sending Audréanne so who knows but one competition shouldn't define a skater you know Otherwise, Maddie and Roman are also done

Due to the MotoGP Qualifying and Sprint Race, I didn't have a chance to have a good look at the SP results table yesterday. But I just did when writing a summary / reminder post for the new Fan Fest I created for Janire, and my goodness it is tight! There are no gaps of more than 2 points between 5th position and 45th position. We essentially have one big group of 41 skaters covered by 20.61 points. And in a group like that, anything can happen.

With regards Ariadna GUPTA, who trains at Barcelona Football Club, in theory it is possible that Janire could catch her. After all, although Ariadna is 10 positions ahead of Janire, they are only 3.50 points apart. However, every time they have met each other so far this season (six times), Ariadna has scored a LOT higher than Janire in the Free Skate. The last time they were up against each other a month ago in Logroño, Ariadna won the Free Skate with Janire 19.29 points behind in 9th position. And that was with Janire achieving the second highest FS score that I can find for her.

So, I'm afraid that it is unlikely that my girl will end up as the top Spaniard here. But, we've not long to wait to find out. Just half an hour until it kicks off.

By the way, the guy that is leading Senior Men after the SP, Iker OYARZABAL (ESP), is from the same club as Janire, CH Txuriberri. More than that, he is part of the coaching team! The head coach is a former British skater, Jonathan Levers. (Actually, reading through the history of the club, there have been a lot of British skaters coaching there!)

The final day of the Triglav Trophy has the same running order as yesterday. A Junior double-bill; followed by a Senior double-bill. So we again start with a marathon. 48 girls, arranged into two groups of 6; followed by a resurfacing; followed by two groups of 6; followed by a resurfacing; followed by two groups of 6; followed by a resurfacing; followed by two groups of 6.

Ah, that was perfect timing. Just finished doing something and flicked over to the livescoring to see what stage of the competition we were at before I started doing something else, and realised that my kid was next to skate.

Mmmmm. Two points in deductions for Janire.

I'm afraid that this is her lowest FS score of the season, by just 0.13 points compared to what she scored at her opening event of the season.

She goes into 5th in the FS, and 4th overall.

Nevertheless, I am just happy that Janire has got to compete on the international stage again after so many years of only competing in Spain.

As she has already turned 19 and there are not many events left this season, this is probably Janire's final competition at Junior level.

On a selfish note, I hope this is not Janire's swansong. With not realising that she was competing in Spain, I have missed out on the past 6 years of her career. After belatedly finding out that she is still skating, I have enjoyed seeing her again. And I would love to see her competing at Senior level.

But whatever path she takes from here, I wish Janire all the best for the future.

I was just getting my next reminder post ready, and realised something.

We have siblings occupying the Top 2 positions in both Junior Ladies and Junior Men after the SP!

With the girls, Sarina JOOS (ITA) led younger sister Noemi JOOS (ITA) by 9.49 points.

And with the boys, Lukas VACLAVIK (SVK) led younger brother Tadeas VACLAVIK (CZE) by 14.38 points.

With gaps like those, it looks like the younger siblings don't have much of a chance to claim back the bragging rights. But, whilst Tadeas is probably safe in 2nd, Noemi isn't. She has Elizabeth NOU (EST) and Olivia LENGYELOVA (SVK) breathing down her neck.

And now that I check the livescoring to find out how many are still to go, I see that Noemi has actually withdrawn!

Now that is a surprise. And a pity. It would have been amazing to have siblings winning the Gold and Silver Medals in both Ladies and Men at the same level.
