2025-26 Russian Challenge

Very lively program by Nastya/Sasha and interesting performance by Liza.

This year's show started very weak, first couple of programs were really to fast-forward past them, but fortunately things have much improved.

The other day, Katsalapov accidentally cut a vein in Sinitsina's leg during a show, and she is unable to skate. Now I'm wondering if this was their planned exhibition or they changed it.

I don't see that at all. Makar & Sasha were great. Frolova was decent. Sadkova's program was clearly the most structured and coherent. The last few programs have just been skating in a circle or waving their arms around.

Sounds like they changed it last minute.

Too bad Liza's scores were low relatively to the field, she deserved way better in my opinion

Man, Petr can really move and I love that he's always ready to have fun and put effort into creative ideas instead of just farming "serious" themes. I mean, I always liked solemn, sincere programs the most, and while the best ones are still my favourite you just get sick of the mediocre ones that ride off the theme, which is most of them. Petr never does this.

I don't think many Russian skaters watch anime. I'd say Semenenko is probably the only one in the national team.
I thought anime in general is very popular in Russia. I've seen quite a few anime programs. I don't know why I got the impression most of these dudes watch anime.

Vika is injured so she can't skate, is it so? They still made the most of it I think, with really elegant lines and pleasing skating by Nikita. They even made it to first in the end.

Why is Petr dressed in a copycat of that dreadful Adam's costume that actually manages the uncanny feat of being worse than the original? 🙈:p

Well, it's quite popular among young people. Many brands started using anime mascots/arts for promotion. But not extreme popular.

I literally have NO idea what just happened but I loved it. Might be the best so far.
