2025 Russian Senior Test Skates

I was running some errands, so I will be catching up on all dance and pairs, but omg, can this nightmare end? I really love L/G but I can't with either of their programs this season.

From what I had seen so far, I loved Frolova, Muravieva and, surprisingly, Akatyeva. From senior men, i think Ugozahev is my pick to cheer for this year in RusNats. I don't understand how anyone could stick Gorbacheva with Notre-Dam. Like... why?

You're talking about it like there was anything good about it. In reality, she overtrained, fractured her food, and barely recovered by qualifying nationals. In the end, the Olympics were won by a girl who didn't have any quads so early in the season.

Shcherbakova's jumps didn't get the same scrutiny as Trusova's, but that's another discussion.

Russian women's skating has really gone backwards. That is my overriding feeling from this test skates.

A lot of vocal people in the Russian skating community have talked about international women's skating being at 2005 levels. I think Russian women's skating is at 2007 levels now apart from Alisa. I don't know the exact date, but the overall content has regressed by at least decade in the space of a couple of years.

Adelia would have barely scored 190 with those two programs from this weekend. She'd would struggle to get a medal at most Challenger events. Alina's not much better a couple of falls, underrotated 3-3 combos.

Akatieva problems have not resolved I think this will be her final season, Mura is almost unrecognisable from 18 months ago (I don't think she will go on much longer either she didn't look happy). I cannot believe they got someone from France to put that free skate together Plushenko had much better programs. Skating has passed them by, it happens in all sports to athletes.

Dasha completely fell apart after that opening 4T combo, at least she can jump a quad that gives some hope.

Gushchina and Frolova skated well and delivered their usual consistency I really admire them for maximising their abilities, I hope Gushchina gets a long deserved medal at the Russian championships this is who I will be supporting. Alisa was great too in her senior debut she should win the Russian championships by 20 points.

The rest wouldn't beat Gubanova. Gubanova suddenly the 4th best skater who trains in Russia based on this weekend.

It should be a big wake up for the Russian figure skating federation.

These are just random numbers. In reality, even in 2014, the difficulty was significantly lower.

But they aren't competing against Gubanova. And this is not competition, the competitions are much later.

Let's see, I hope I am wrong. I have a feeling though everyone will be gradually better over the season, there won't be any sudden transformations where Akatieva is suddenly stable, Mura regains that previous speed and stable jumps, Adelia has multiple quads.

There will be new skaters to look forward to Dzepka can't come to seniors soon enough.

I do not think we can compare . 4 years ago test skates were the start of the bloodbath for 2 tickets to Beijing ( 1 ticket was pretty much guaranteed to Kamila). This season is completely different. Adelia is going to Milan, Russians are not going to European, Words or GPS, why bother?
Exactly. Everyone should chill, it was just test skates before unimportant season... I guess the same people who were writing off Anna S. before basically every season are writing off Adelka now. We will see..

M/G and B/K are on another level when it comes to pairs skating. It's a shame they don't get to go to the Olympics, Europeans, or Worlds — well, more accurately, B/K, because we all know Galimov’s political views… so I don’t think he really deserves that opportunity.
And even though M/G are like machines and never seem to make mistakes (today might’ve been the exception), their programs tend to always follow the same style — which works great for them. But when you watch B/K, even with the occasional mistakes, they look like a mature, polished pair — like a king and queen on the ice. It feels like the whole package: costumes, music, choreography… and a perfect 4S. I just hope they can delivery in the season.

Would struggle to break 190 based on today and yesterday.

Like I said 4 years ago at this event Trusova with five quads, everyone struggling with triples now.

Adelka not the same skater since she the AIN rules came into effect.
Or the new age limit.
