2026 Junior Worlds: General Info and Pregame Chat

Chinese skaters have the option of utilizing flights that pass through Russia as China is not subject to the same geopolitical restrictions on flights as the West. There's no need to worry about them. :)

Japanese and Korean skaters may take longer but could still get there. A cursory glance on flightradar24.com is showing some flights from Tokyo going from there to Paris, Stockholm, and Munich that are making a large arc to get to those destinations by flying above North America near the North Pole. (I'm presuming they would be able to make connecting flights to Tallinn through such major airports.) They also have the option of connecting with flights on Chinese carriers like I mentioned earlier. Again, I am not worried.
Me neither. My Friend Jeff was United Capt #1 so he got his choice of routes. He would fly out of Chicago, over the artic , to Germany and Asia. I am sure there are ways to fly out of Asia and eventually land in Tallinn. I used to have a globe.....wish I kept it! The world is not flat.

Can’t find tiles on Peacock.
It's not going to be on Peacock. ;) It'll be on the ISU Youtube channel whenever the tiles get put up.
I dont think they have ever broadcast Jrs????
No, they haven't, unless it's the Junior National Championships. The World Junior Championships are an entirely different matter...

Except for US National events, they don't do juniors.
And that is kind of sad. Probably legal logistics doesnt help, But Peacock broadcasts lots of obscure sporting events. In Japan, skating is big enough with ladies that the events are well attended and there is lots on TV, including Jrs. Good for them!
BTW, the top spectator PROFFESIONAL sports in Japan I would have never guessed 5 of them.

I'm surprised figure skating didn't even make it to the top ten sports in Japan. On the other hand, I'm puzzled as to why professional football aka soccer isn't more popular in the US...

not surprising at all. the only country where figure skating is in most popular sports would probably be Russia.

I have maybe stupid question, but maybe someone is aware (I've asked via email to address given on JWC website a while ago, but with no response) - does anybody know if sections on judges' side (ground level, not upper stands), were opened for general public to buy tickets/was there maybe a presale that had those sections (A3, A4 and some B sections if I recall correctly)?
Just asking out of curiosity.

I can't believe jr wolrds are starting tomorrow, I'm still in the post-olympic blues. Anyway, I missed our juniors and can't wait to see their growth. I missed Mark's commentary as well.

I wonder if he's going to call any unders on Mao, especially on her lutz..... No hate to Mao, even with unders she probably would still win due to all her qualities. Just curious 🤔
If she urs, he propably will. However, he's not controller, so his calls are not final. Also, It's not that Mao's lutzes are always short, many of them are really nice and clean.

Warm-up groups are published for the first day, so Pairs and Men SP

At Euros last year they were not open to the public.

The actual popularity of skating in Japan is murky, as it is an am. sport. The list I provided was for pro. sports. I am sure somewhere on the web is the spectator sport popularity as far as All sports in Japan. Soccer seems to be making some inroads in the US. I really cant say as all games of the ball are not my thing.

Keeping my politics to myself, I number one want to see EXACTLY what the Tech pannel sees to be able to call a Q or a UR. I can play back at my leasure in slow mo/stop action on a big screen TV and review a jump. From what I have seen, they have this dinky laptop. And I dont know how much slo mo ability they have. Since the technology is there to tell how short a jump is, I think all tech pannel members need to be tested. If they cant correctly call an UR /Q 90 percent of the time, things have to change. Also, A Q has no real definition. Is a quarter turn plus or minus 10 degrees? 5? What? It is mearly an opinion by a person(s) in a short period of time. In car racing, aircraft racing, horse racing, people racing, who breaks the plane of the finish line is critical. So we have the photo finish. Look at the technology in football. If the position of the blade hitting the ice is this important, technology can easily solve it. If the ISU WANTS to solve it. An under-rotation in figure skating occurs when a skater fails to complete the required number of revolutions in the air, landing with their blade more than a quarter, but less than a half, short of the full rotation.
