Piper and Paul were magical, costume, music, emotion, everything.

I still like Fear and Gibson's Scottish thing -- you never go wrong with bagpipe music! -- too bad about the mistakes.
Piper and Paul had my absolute favorite ice dance and I've never seen them perform it so well. I believe the judges had already decided they would not 'win' no matter what, though. Hence the too-low marks in their SD. Too far from the top two, I mean.

I did feel sorry for Lilah and Lewis--their Scottish FD is so much fun! Those of us with even an ounce of Scottish blood just can't help getting highly jazzed-up over music with bagpipes!

Okay, Watch the free dances and have to agree that the French, besides making the mistake on the twizzle, we're also rough on the lift where Guillaume was clearly on the verge of losing it, and I mistake on the twizzle as well.... but for me it just looked a little rougher than it has in the past. Definitely not my favorite of their performances of this dance. I do think that it is a Stronger dance overall than the americans, but tonight I would say that Piper and Paul had the magic, I probably would have had the Americans second but winning overall, and the French third in the free dance. And this comes from a huge fan of this French team and this free dance.

I also have to say that while I have been critical of Piper and Paul for bringing back this free dance, I noticed more nuances and choreographic additions- or maybe I just didn't notice them previously, but there were so many neat moves where they had complex holds and Transitions and things like that. Definitely their best performance of Vincent I think ever. Wow

The music, yes. The occasional arm/hand positions, OK. The costumes.....:palmf:. (I was born in Aberdeen. My kids live there and in Caithness and on the shore of Loch Ness. They didn't like the costumes either, they say.)

The Kerrs' version in 2008 was so much better. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Agreed that those costumes were---let's just say 'a choice'. We've all seens Lilah and Lewis perform that FD far better, too.

I well remember the Kerrs Scottish Dance in 2008 and for me, it was one of the best dances done that year! I loved it!

And actually I was just over on Facebook briefly and there was a picture of Mark Hanretty showing off his red tartan pants like Lewis Gibson's :laugh4:. So maybe my family and I are being too fashion-fussy :) . And the program was kind of cute when it was done well.

Thank you for this comment re: the costumes. I haven't felt qualified to say, but they scream kitsch to me rather than something akin to authentic. Like a souvenir Statue of Liberty [USA landmark] that says "Made in China" on the bottom. Just no.

Wasn't able to watch live but finally got caught up. So very happy for Piper and Paul. Their performance looked seamless and was woven together beautifully. I had them in bronze in my predictions. I shed a few tears with Piper and Paul.

I'm ecstatic for Emi and Vadym. I thought if they finished in the top 10 that would be great. Top 5 phenomenal. So they were in 5th!!! Once again, Coach Shpilband's face will hurt tomorrow from smiling so much. I had them in 5th in my predictions. I'm on a roll.

My other favorites were Juulia and Matthias from Finland.

I usually hate the male German commentator because of his lack of basic knowledge (he admitted during the Men's SP that he didn't know that your max PCS get limited when you have a fall), and the bad mood he spreads - but I actually would have preferred him this time because he at least calls out bad judging and negative stories.

The constant gushing of the female commentators about C/B and FB/C got old so fast. They also decided to downplay both Gabriellea's story and the Sorensen case by "both siding". Sorensen is apparently accused of " sexual harassment" according to them, not rape.

I'm so glad Piper and Pail got their medal and skated lights out, but in a fair world they would have won Gold or Silver.

USA commentator referred to it as "sexual maltreatment" during both RD and FD broadcasts. I don't recall hearing this term before. Made me wonder if they were trying for cover after some lawsuits of media companies by powers that be.

I think that was the term used by the ISU when they issued the ban, although where they got it from, I do not know.

It was the term used by the Canadian sports body that investigated the case and issued the suspension. It was later overturned on jurisdictional grounds. Sorensen wasn't Canadian and didn't skate for Canada at the time of the incident, nor did the incident take place in Canada.

It's a broad-ranging legal term used in Canada for offences in the field of child welfare (in their home setting) and "institutional welfare" (e.g.minors in sports, schools, pediatric clinics, etc.). It's a generalized term covering a variety of offences in that one area of child abuse or the abuse of minors.

I haven't been able to sleep... I wonder if it's partly due to watching and rewatching Piper and Paul's free dance. I think I have watched their performance more often by now than Heated Rivalry (and I have watched the latter A LOT).

I doubt they will do so but I do hope they will go to worlds. They have done so much work to get these programs up to Olympic shape that I hope they get to perform at this level once more. Just because I am greedy and needy. Emo Paul is very endearing :). I loved seeing them together in interviews as well. There is a real and true bond between them. It's so nice to see. Enough rambling for me.. I better go to bed

The highlight for me were Piper and Paul! So happy for their bronze medal! I love this program, so full of emotion.
Also impressed by Emilea and Vadym. I see the them in the fight for medals next season.
While in general I am not a fan of either C/B or FB/C, I do think the americans deserved to win. The french had mistakes, while C/B gave their best. I also found C/B program to be more engaging and inovative.
My personal podium would be: 1: USA, 2. Canada; 3. France.
