How can a skater not have spare boots?

He took his spare boots but he said he's not very comfortable with them and he steps out from jumps more often. Not sure if he used those today or the broken ones.

I assume it's hard to break in two pairs within time when you have training and competing to do, also with boots there can be a slight difference with each one and that can make the whole thing useless so I think most consider it better to save the money

it takes time before you can jump in new boots, at least first few hours are edge work and every boot feel different, so they don't switch boots for training

I get jumpscared every time I see/hear Ilia's hometown mentioned since I have a trip planned in that area later this year. I've never followed Ilia very closely so I was shocked when I first heard it mentioned during the Olympics
