Skating after Shaidorov makes Ilya look like a master of the blade. His spins are nice too. Not his most convincing performance but easy lead for now, I think.

While I am happy that Adam, Mikhail, cha, Daniel et al are skating so well; It is with them kind of they got lucky. Yes, they have talent but they could easily be out of the top 10 (I would include Kevin and others too of course. But that's life. Mikhail's skating skills leave a lot to be desired but Ilia is NOT Patrick Chan when it comes to mastery of the blade. And as an artist he is good like Chen bu not a master. Still Ilia seems reserved a bit. I guess he wants to get the job done with enough difficulty but not put himself in jeopardy.

I have no problem with the scores but, my personal ranking is Adam, Yuma and Ilia, in that order. And Kevin. And Donovan.
I know... but this is my personal ranking.:love3:
Great competition, I really enjoyed it.

Yuma scoring above Adam, what a disgrace. Full reputation judging.

Yuma should have been 3rd even with a clean Triple Axel. He does not have depth of performance. He's only able to perform cutesy. Adam also had the best footwork sequence, the use of edges was so challenging, engaging those edges in more difficult ways than what others attempt, and the expression throughout was absolutely superior to everyone else.

exciting event. no horrible accidents a la Lindsey Vonne. favorites delivering and some who could have done better will deal with where they are. see y'all

I think the podium is set with the only one who can challenge for bronze (or possibly silver if Kagiyama has a bad skate) is Shaidorov.

But Misha has had a bad season, I'm not even sure if he has that 3A-4T or whatever the quad was still. If he has his World's content he will challenge, but probably 90% probability the podium is set in stone. No-one below has the technical content to overcome except maybe Sato, but he looked tired and he's not getting bigger mushrooms than Kagiyama.

They shouldn't be. That's purely GOE. I'm not claiming anyone was robbed. Ilya deserves his wins because his tech is incredible but I do wish judges would actually judge according to the rubrics. He'll still win with more accurate PCS.
Except even the rubrics are ridiculous, because judges are actively discouraged to award scores with more than 1 point difference between the three PCS components.

A very ntertaining and strong competition today, hopefully Rinky won't come back with a vengeance for the free. Aymoz's skate was the most enjoyable for me, I am so relieved he not only didn't bomb, but nailed all of his jumps. Kagiyama was fantastic outside of the axel, that step sequence is a piece of art. Cha should have had higher PCS. Ilia would most likely win comfortably anyway with a more reasonable 8.5 instead of 9-9.25 in the individual components of the PCS, but the judges are always hell bent to give the best jumper huge PCS if he is from a big federation.

Oh please. Adam could only wish the flow of Yuma's skating. For most, those choreo are clunky and over-wrought.
