They had a nearly 5 point SP lead though and Georgians should have been nowhere close to Germans in PCS.

Very fair results!
I thought the Germans' program was just tentative and slow and behind the music. With the lead in the SP it was a fair result over the Hungarians (kudos to them for the only clean SP + FS!) overall.
The Georgians had excellent elements (esp the 3 jump SBS combo), even if the lift footwork is scary. She's such a star! Kudos to them for their first Olympic figure skating medal for their country.
So happy for the Japanese!!!!!! What a comeback, and a comfortable win, with an LP that is one of the greats in Olympic history.

Happy for MiNiki to get the bronze, but a bit sad for Maria & Alexei - they were the cleanest over 2 programs and yet received nothing 
OMG, I shocked only 3rd for H/V.
Georgians are really emotional. Gubanova in tears with them. Egadze has joined as well.

Congratulations to Riku and Ryuichi, well deserved in the end, this was a monumental performance in the free.
I am sad that Miniki missed on the silver but I think it is fair, they made mistakes and looked tentative through a large portion of it.

And they definitely had their Olympic Moment! They Performed that gorgeous, emotional program with perfection!

Well this event went pretty much as expected. Sui/Han and Miura/Kihara's programs are the only ones I will rewatch in the future.
I guess the Georgians deserve silver for being the only team to make the +2Axel+2Axel look good, and they did give a better performance than the Germans. That death spiral though...that should have been a huge deduction.

for MinikiMiniki, never ever go to Richard Benoit to choreograph your programs!! That music that choreography was not for you. He does excellent, brilliant choreographies ( look how brilliant choreography he did for Gogolev) but for you he completely failed. I blame Benoit

I don't disagree. But they are never judged well when they make mistakes. Honestly, I am more bummed about P/S than H/V.
