I doubt Soos is registered with the Indian federation :). The intelligence just confused their flags, I suspect :)

Also, if we are going to be serious about recommendations : why not simply not allow judges who have been suspended previously from returning to Olympics judging ? Salomé wouldn't be a factor here if the ISU simply didn't allow formerly suspended judges to serve at worlds/olympics.
No, intelligence correctly identified flag as Hungarian and calculates the bias as Hungarian. Somewhere in the entry table, someone put India. The official protocols only have ISU on them, so the entry had to be manual at some point.

A quick analysis of protocols like that before final results are announced have to be a must and it should be transparent. We need to recieve official slip like that to show that results are not overall impacted, even if a judge was completely out of line. They also absolutely SHOULD gray out outliers in protocols if they are not used in calculations, period.

They could determine if it was conspiracy or stupidity on behalf of a judge later. French judge, Georgian judge and American judge should all have some kind of performance review. But the main thing, it has to be clear and transparent what they did.

I also don't know if what the document says is true or not -- if PCS scores are a subject to outlier trimming or not. If not, that's an oversight of cheating potential.

Sure but it does say that the judge may be registered with the Indian federation. It's impossible because as there are no Indian pairs in senior worlds, there wouldn't be a judge for India in the selection pool. So whatever it is, this part is wrong. AI should be able to say : Attila Soos, Hungary... and that's it. I mean google will tell you that Attila Soos is a judge from Hungary... so why complicate things.

still not properly assessed by AI. You know, it is small details like this, like the one I pointed out in the women's analysis saying that if ISU had made the decision to remove the US judge from the pool that irk me. ISU doesn't decide to omit judges after the SP... There is a draw and that judge just didn't get left out.. It's left to chance not to the ISU.

I am all for better judging. However, I don't think AI is doing such a great job. That's all I am saying.

I'm pretty sure that PCSs are trimmed. But the interesting thing is that in the ISU'Official's Evaluation and Oversight Reviews, as I recall, the mean from which deviations are measured is all nine, plus the referee counted twice, or something like that.

Anastasiia and Luka had some beautiful jumps and throws, but their dangerous lifts and strange death spiral.made it hard for me to enjoy. Their lifts made me especially nervous.

Agree! I feel tense when watching them. But Metelkina is fierce!! It's almost like I feel Berulava can't keep up with her. I hope they stay healthy moving into the future!

I stii can’t get over the fact that Minerva and Nikita finished below them, their own fault of course, Minerva made mistakes. But in general they are a class above Anastasiia/Luka. The judges are very generous with PCS too I don’t quite understand why- their programs are hardly masterpieces, not great unison either. But good speed and they well known from their success on junior level I suppose. Anastasia of course has a lot of personality and that makes up for a lot. Which brings me to another pair - Maria/ Alexei they are so good technically and SO consistent but are totally devoid of charisma. They are nice and that is all. They need to find programs that would bring something out of them because right now it’s just like watching two people doing difficult elements together. On that account I can’t understand the outcry - they are so underscored which is heard constantly. Anastasia is fierce and Luka looks scared to death during the lifts but you can’t help but watch them (it’s his feet one not be better be looking at 😉)

I cannot stop watching Emily Chan and Spencer Akira Howe's freeskate. It seems to me that they powered through all the things that were holding them back and I'm so elated that they are 7th at the Olympics.

But even more than all the beauty of their elements was how well they expressed the music.

And most of all, Emily and Spencer were emotionally together in these performances. That raised their skating far, far above many of the skaters' performances here. And they elevated themselves, connecting in a way we knew they could but hadn't been as evident recently.

Such gorgeous skating! 😍 I love how their skating soars with the music and yet is intimate. (as Johnny said)

here's a good angle view I've been enjoying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzUUoIQM8OQ

They probably had the 2nd-best program artistically for me. Too bad about the hideous side-by-side jumps. She cheats both the salchow and toeloop, btw, but didn't get called on the salchow.

It actually includes a note indicating an entry error, not analysis error:

The panel document lists Judge 7 as 🇮🇳 (India), but SkatingScores displays the 🇭🇺 (Hungary) flag in scoring data. Attila Soós is a Hungarian national, likely registered with the Indian federation.
Just for the record, I can 100% garantee that Soós Attila is registered at HunFed and not the Indian Figure Skating Federation
See page 13 of the attached ISU document in @Andrea82 's post

I wasn't crazy about any of these programs. I think we have seen much, much better in the past with story telling or interesting or fun ideas. Despite the unnecessary music change and not representing the theme Gladiator at all, M/K were the most enjoyable because of their quality.
Overall, good to see such a happy podium!
Loved the gladiator program of Lia and Trennt. Great performance and costumes!

Yes, but the official page lists everyone as ISU. Someone had to type it. Somewhere, someone mistyped. But the analysis did NOT suffer as a result, because national bias for Attila was designated as Hungarian. And the Hungarians had a Georgian judge reducing their score vs average by 11 points and another judge also dinging them down in a tandem. THIS IS THE MAIN TAKE AWAY. Jumping on typos... blah.

A big shout out to Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud who earned new personal best in the SP, FS, and Total score!

“We always focus on what we can control,” said Pereira. “We know that we have the quality. Over the years, we built up the levels. We have everything that we need to be where we want to be. Yesterday, we controlled what we could. We were proud of our short program, even before we got the scores. I think we did a good job. I actually felt the most comfortable I’ve felt today.”

The national champs said they will be having a “real conversation” on their plans for the future.

“These Olympic Games were the goal when we started our partnership,” said Pereira. “So we haven’t really had a chance to talk.”
