I am hoping chock and bates don't wear themselves out for their individual competition.

I felt like being one of the older teams they wouldn't skating today but they must want that Gold in the team event too. So much for the team event not meaning anything you can see how it's a much bigger deal with each Olympics just by how nervous these skaters are knowing they are skating not just for themselves but their teammates. And the worry that the same teams would be on the podium every 4 years but we see how teams are trying to build overall teams and are much more competitive then even 4 years ago. This event is going to continue to get bigger and more important.

I am not willing to give up on skirts and dresses for two or three teams who just aren't smart enough to pick sensible skirts. It's like if wine was forbidden to the entire planet because a couple people got too drunk at xmas

Nice skate from the Japanese team. That was their end of their Olympics, and I think that they have given a good account of themselves.

Well done, kiddos! Judges were stingy with GOEs but who cares. Slight issue on twizzles but overal fast, expressive, great energy.
Hope they can enjoy the rest of the games.

For me personally these two are very pleasant to watch but slightly uninspired. I do that stationary lift followed by the choreo sequence though.

Why are G/P not skating Canada has a real chance to medal now in the team event.

I think they assumed they wouldn’t make the final or if so they wouldn’t be in medal contention. FD entries were due after the men’s SP not before. I’m sure there are some foreheads getting slapped right now.

Darn.
Basically, Canada is conceding on a podium spot by not putting their top ice dance team. But, they could have ended up out of the podium anyways. So, better to give more experience to other skaters.

I suppose it’s the difference of a point potentially, because Piper and Paul would have likely come in 2nd but could also have been 3rd to the Italians and Marjo and Zach are likely to be 3rd here.

I preferred the FD they had at the beginning of the season. This FD has never impressed me. But, I do think they are great performers and he stands out for performing just as much as she does which often isn't the case in paired disciplines.

yeah... it's a bit weird that Canada decided to do this before the Men's SP... at the same time, considering how the event was going, it's hard to blame them. They probably thought, let's rest Piper and Paul and send LaLa to the warm up session.

That’s so funny. I missed the short for pairs and most of the rhythm dance but was totally doing a double take during the recap like, what did I just see??

Y’all may not be familiar with southern bounce music but one of the artists, Big Freedia (also featured in Beyoncé’s Renaissance), has a song titled “Azz Everywhere”. I’ll say nothing more and my apologies in advance!
