I did set up an account for that GEM site in Canada thanks to the kind fan here who put up a list of Canadian zip codes for us VPN users. I did so using my Google account information. When I tried using the site earlier today to watch some curling, just the fact I had logged into it kinda made my PC go crazy and start 'doing stuff' all by itself. I noticed that even though I logged out of it, when I later logged into YouTube, it showed I had logged in twice. Still more crazy stuff occurring. I finally got it to stop when I logged out of YouTube (where it now showed I was entered three times even though I did no such thing) and totally cleaned out my PC. So I wonder how 'sketchy' it might be for me to have set up the GEM account at all, using my VPN? I intend to try viewing events there--they even show opening and closing ceremonies and the figure skating gala--but if my PC starts going nuts again I'll need to 'leave Canada', fully clean out my PC, turn it off (maybe just reset?) then go back in using VPN set to Germany. I saved the link for the German site in my documents.
It looks like our qq link isn't working for the Olympics, as Japan has figured out some way to block their sports channel from 'illicit' use.
If nothing actually works for me, I'll just cancel the GEM account and 'unhook' it from my Google account (which may be causing the problems), go back to bed and read about the results later. I do care, but it is all just a bit silly, especially the 'team event' hoopla. Am hoping for safe, good presentations from everyone involved; knowing how many are trying to compete while injured is worrisome.
