  How to watch Russian events

  There is no official YouTube stream at the moment. So far there are two most common ways to watch the Russian events:
  1) Channel One website. The website may be blocked in some countries by local providers or banned by local government. You can use VPN of any other country to avoid the block. This website is the only way to watch the recordings. Recordings are always published within a few hours after the event ends.
  2) Channel One's technical channel. Open link https://1tv-live-gcore.servicecdn.ru/dash-live3/streams/sport-1/sport-1.mpd via VLC media player or any other similar app such as KMplayer. This works without a VPN service even if the website is blocked in your country. The broadcast quality is better there than on the website. The method only works for watching live broadcasts, you can't access the recordings using it.

Test Skates is an annual event for national team members, designed to showcase new programs to spectators and experts. Following their performances, the athletes receive feedback from the federation. The protocols are not publicly available.

Junior Test Skates hasn't been added to the RusFed calendar yet. The dates are from media. It's also unconfirmed whether there will be a broadcast.

It's obvious that the participants for the JGP will be determined here (as it was before the ban). Although the entry lists must be submitted earlier, substitutions can still be made.

I see some people suggesting this event will "decide" who the federation sends to the JGP, but I really don't foresee them making any changes to the expected selections – Kostyleva, Lazarev, Shesheleva & Karnaukhov, and Fefelova & Valov – unless any of these leading skaters are visibly struggling and/or injured.

The only discipline where there's even any debate is womens, and while I agree that compelling arguments can be made for Sofia Dzepka, I don't think the federation turns away Lena, the back-to-back junior national champion, unless there are serious health concerns or her mom causes a major scandal. Especially given Sikharulidze's relationship with Plushenko.

I suppose there will be an interesting battle over who gets the third entry for pairs.

In any case, I'm looking forward to this event, even if there's little more significance to it than seeing the new programs debut.

I know the conversation will likely revolve around women, because that's how it always goes, but if there is any news on Lazarev, Shesheleva/Karnaukhov and Fefeleva/Valov, I would be glad of some reassurances that they are in good health!

Broadcast would be amazing, but on the other hand, given how special and high-pressure this test skates are, I am fine if they decide to keep it without coverage. Though, at a guess, they would prefer to broadcast?

If there are no other test skates for juniors, I don't see any reason to not cover the event. It seems likely to me that they will actively advertise it due to the lifting of the ban.

That's my feeling exactly, plus it might prevent the rumor mill going wild if one of the favorites is underperforming because of injury. Skating in July would be so neat!

Yes, the first event is unlikely to be broadcasted. The one in August must be public.

I dunno, I think there is no shortage of exciting juniors who are already in juniors. I am particularly keen to see what happens with Kovtun, Kolesnikov, Orekhovskaya, Slutskaya/Goncharov and Gorshenina/Makarov.

Also, the closed test should start today, and I hope there will be no substitutes for China as a result. Though, I suppose if anyone is injured, we won't see substitutes until after the open test skates? Or are they looking at the main and the first sub in the closed test?
