Info 2026 World Figure Skating Championships

There's a little more information on the website, looks like you can't bring cameras.

You also can't bring drinks or food, which has me slightly raging rn. I'm not someone who counts every penny when travelling, but I didn't plan on spending 50 € on water for a week. They better have some good food options available, expecting the spectators to sit in the arena for 5 hours without snacks would be insane.
Wow...no containers of any type...no binoculars.......

I am taking a small water bottle in anyway, otherwise I will die of thirst. I have not experienced any issues with this before. I only recall the first day in Helsinki 2017 when they said I could bring in an empty bottle and fill it up with tap water. Hmm. But from experience, they tend to be strict on the first day and then relax the rules a little. I mean, what is wrong in bringing in a small bottle of water and a few snacks? Oh I know - they're scared stiff of people bringing in liquids from outside, like in airport security. Oh give me a BREAK!

They also checked for bottles and food at Nepela 2017, and turned me away for having them. And that's practically next doors, and a small event... No idea if they still do that as I haven't attended it since, but for WC, I'd test the waters on the first day with a cereal bar or a small packet of nuts that you won't regret having to toss away if security decide to be strict a-holes. And with an empty water bottle. I don't think they will be too strict about small stuff, otherwise they risk long lines forming, and people not getting in on time. But I definitely wouldn't try to bring in something like a full 1.5l bottle and a tortilla wrap...
ETA, you wouldn't die of thirst anyways as there are are definitely food stalls at the Arena. But there might be long lines there, and the water might be a bit overpriced. I don't think they'd dare charge more than 3 euros for 0.5l though.

I've never had a problem at Nepela. But yes, it's long queues I'm trying to avoid. Also, you always pay over the odds for things, which annoys me. Still, CZ is not as expensive as some countries!

Nepela no longer checks food or water, just ticket scanning at entrance, you can bring in pretty much any food or drinks and the security does not bat an eye. I was planning to bring in an empty bottle and fill it in the arena, but there are no refilling stations available according to public info and apparently drinks sold at arena are all sold open for security reasons, so I have a feeling they will be checking, but I will try anyway as well with a small water bottle, if they throw it away it's not a huge financial loss.

There are people on this forum who are expert smugglers. (y) We were told the vendors at one arena had to remove the caps so that people dont throw full bottles at skaters. I think they were used to hockey.

The sole purpose of banning bottles is so you dont go into the bathroom and fill up your own container with free water. So you are suppose to buy water to take medications. They actually tried this at the Reno National air races one year as the promoters got a piece of the action for every bottle of water, etc that was sold by vendors. Till a lawyer pointed out denying people water could lead to some nasty lawsuits, ...so they let people bring in 2 sealed bottles of water. Then they installed a water buffalo people could use to fill their bottles. Ref skating events, I would smuggle into skating events a collapsable water container in case my empty bottle got confiscated. I grew tired of being treated like an animal, being thrown out into the Boston rain to "clear the arena" and being kicked out of my seat by security for no reason. AND having to use porta potties outside of the arena (worlds 2013 London Ontario)

For the same money, people try and kill me with margarittas and 4 star Asian food and are kind and sweet and gentile and cant do enough for me. Like Sarah and Yentile. They are room mates and buds on the MS Nieuw Amsterdam. Miss you guys....

Hey, he told me he is working on his English, OK?
Mark is very knowledgeable and I don't mind Scottish accents, but after listening to him for a while I get fed up. He tells me few things I don't already know, several things I don't need to know (e.g. what a skater is studying) and his endless repetition of the words 'showcase', 'Olympic cycle' and 'social medierrrr' gets on my nerves.

Yes, that's not right. I remember them doing that on at least one day in Helsinki 2017. It's not as if there were any places close to the arena to go to. Don't they understand that most people travel a long way and have all-event tickets, so they're not just showing up for the odd event? Where are people supposed to go?

I remember waiting outside in the cold ...

Sofia Val and Asaf Kazimov are out as well. Asaf had surgery today, the Spanish fed posted on instagram.
Is there a current list anywhere as of today showing who is still entered, or substituting? My daughter and her sisters-in-law are doing a "girls trip away" from the UK to go to Worlds, and her internet is down since yesterday. They're wondering by now who they *will* see.

I'd use Anything GOEs, it's more up to date than the official entries list right now.

Why did you guys let me mis pronounce Alysa Liu's name all this time?
From the NewYorkTimes 9 type written page article on Alysa's media blitz.

"She bounced through the first tasks. She did two on-camera teases and an interview with the “Today” crew — Craig Melvin, Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly — delivering her trademark ease to the process. Even about her name.

She confirmed it’s pronounced Lee-oo, but, she said, “I’m good with whatever.”

“It’s actually Ah-LEE-sa Lee-oh,” she said. “But if people can’t get Ah-LEE-sa, they’re not going to get Lee-oh.”

Hearing “Ah-LISS-a Lou” doesn’t bother her, though. Another example of the voluntary nature of her disposition."

(I researched this and it is indeed Lee-oh or even Lay-oh)

BTW, do we know if Alysa is going to the Oscars?

Do we need to do a Mark Bingo card?
