Yes, that always sounds like something you'd buy at the concession stand to eat. "Gimme a double rittberger with extra cheese, please"Lutz or Lootz is fine by me... don't give me a Rittberger though

Chris H. is a Brit....I only hear Canadian and British commentators, and their accents sound normal to me.

Yes. He's Scottish. I'm Scottish. What's not to understand about his accent?Chris H. is a Brit....![]()
Holland America line was first named "Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatschappij " There is no way I can say that.Hahaha. In Dutch the loop is always called a Rittberger, except it is pronounced in the Dutch way a 'Reet berger' And the G is a guttural sound anyone who has English as the mother language has difficulties with.

I told you the story , right? About how I was sitting outside at a motel one nice evening and a person indicated they wanted to share my bench. I said. "Sure" and he started talking and I couldnt understand one word he said...till he said "I am Scottish". And from that moment on, I could understand him!Yes. He's Scottish. I'm Scottish. One of my linguistics professors would have loved to hear that. You would have been used as an example in his lecture about accent-interpretationsI told you the story , right? I have lots of good linguistics stories. I probably told you the story of my good friend who was born in Germany in 1942. His American mom was able to bring him to the states about 1947-48. He couldnt speak a word of English. So about 2018 we met at a black powder match in the middle of no where Montana and two Germans arrived to shoot the match and Old Kurt helped them out as much as possible. One spoke pretty good English but the other only broken English. By the end of the Week, listening to them talk to each other in German, Kurt found his German coming back to him...One of my linguistics professors would have loved to hear that. You would have been used as an example in his lecture about accent-interpretations![]()

Officially...there's no word, but unofficially, Audrey deleted nearly all of her posts from their time competing together from her Instagram page, so make of that what you will.Does anyone know if Shin/Nagy split? They were supposed to be first alternates, so they must have passed. I'm bummed, I really loved both their programs this year and would have liked to see them again. Audrey was finally starting to get the pairs elements.
Oh, I'd love to hear Ted Barton giving those a try!In Finnish: Loop=Ritti, Toe Loop=Tulppi. But old days, long time ago when triples were not common, this was much better, douple loop= kaksoissilmukkahyppy, douple toe loop= kaksoiskärkisilmukkahyppy. People of my age remember legendary Seppo Kannas, who commented every figure skating event before retiring. I still hear his voice saying kaksoiskärkisilmukkahyppy when I think about him - and still miss him (I had to check, He is 92 years old now).
