I just found this video on a japanese skating site. He is only 12yo and I think he is very talented! His spins are very fast with good positions. He just competed in the japanese jr nationals and place 3rd but won the free skate scoring 111.47. Too bad he was 7th in the SP.

He reminds me of Johnny Weir when he was younger.

He is such a whole package! He has great jumps, very fast spins, and nice presentation. I like his dynamic, lively moves. He is also very flexible. He does biellman and layback inna bauer followed by 2a-2t-2l (2l-2t? don't remember exactly). Amazing.

WOW!

His jumps remind me of Oda a few years ago... that soft knee and effortless quality. that ina bauer is better than most ladies. A lot of talent. I can't wait to see more of this fellow. boy, they sure grow them young in Japan!

Yeah, he is just amazing for his age! I totally agree with you that he's got the whole package! I think he's got the Weir like softness in his skating. He wowed me more than when I first saw Mao at the same age.

Wow, he's fantastic. Wonderfully fast and well-positioned spins, the full set of triples save the axel, great flow and connection between the moves, and a program that really embodies the spirit of the music. Cute kid, too.

here is the winning ladies skate... i assume at the junior level?? Not very impressive... she reminds me of Miki. Has wierd entrances to her salchow (she puts her free foot down) and loop (she enters like Mao with a left outside three and the places the right foot down). The boy was a lot more interesting.

I find something about Rumi Suizu (the girl's winner) to be appealing, but I'm not sure what...not the greatest jumper or spinner, but she does seem to give it all she's got. To be fair, she skated this program better at the Counter Match.

Still prefer Nishino by a mile, though...she reminds me of Mao, except with a lip instead of a flutz.

to be honest, I am not really impressed with any of the current japanese jr ladies skaters. Nishino is good but nothing special about her. Her spins are ok, not great, her jumps are good but not great. Mirai and Caroline are way ahead of these japanese jr skaters.

I didn't think Rumi Suizu's skate was that special either. I prefered Nishino's fall, and downgraded jumps and all.

For ISU purposes, Nishino is a year younger than Mirai and Caroline, and it also her first year competing as a junior, nationally or internationally. I think she's done pretty well.

WOW! Yuzuru was impressive indeed. Great awareness of movement throughout, natural musicality, but skating with so much freedom at the same time. Definitely a natural talent! I'm sure his stroking will improve. Looks like he has what it takes. Can't wait to see more of him!
