Akiko Suzuki

Akiko Suzuki posted a message about this year's Notte Stellata edition:

And here comes translation:
"We are truly grateful for the opportunity to share this special time with you all under the stars, filled with hopes and prayers. I myself have also been given the strength to live. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Yuzuru, Mansai Nomura, all my co-stars, the staff, and the audience who warmly supported me".

Akiko was one of six skaters who took part in the collaborative Bolero with Mansai Nomura. The remaining five were Yuzuru Hanyu, Satoko Miyahara, Shae Lynn Bourne who also choreographed the skating part, Keiji Tanaka and Takahito Mura. They were all incredibly honoured to be able to perform next to Mansai Nomura who is a true master of the art of traditional kyogen theatre and hugely respected in Japan.
In her IG post, Akiko also went back to reflect on her eating disorder which she had always been very frank about. She said how moved she was that she could - as an ED survivor - join in with the crowd answering Mansai that, yes, they are so truly happy to be alive. Kudos now and always!

Akiko's "Wasted Love" exhibition, performed at Friends on Ice this weekend, deserves to be shared here. She often comes up with pretty intriguing programs for FOI - this one in particular speaks to me as I've always loved her darker, edgy side. (Imo she also continues to demonstrate some of the best fashion sense in skating. I feel that her costumes are always in perfect harmony with the themes of her programs and never "too much" or too sparse in terms of details.) 🥰

This was today's matinee performance:

Akiko also took part in the pre-opening ceremony of the multi-purpose IG Arena (Aichi International Arena) in Nagoya (which will be hosting this year's senior and junior Grand Prix Finals), alongside Shizuka, Kanako, Kana and Daisuke back in May. The skaters were driven into the arena in convertibles and later each performed short floor dance parts. The dance segment starts at 12:12.

The opening act was followed by two talk shows with the skaters. Akiko and Kanako were joined by Yuma Kagiyama and Rena Uezono for one of the talk shows (while Shizuka, Kana and Daisuke were joined by Mao Shimada). Takahito Mura served as one of the MCs:

Akiko posted about the event on her twitter account:

I had the honour of participating in the opening act at IG Arena! Under the wonderful direction of Mr Hideaki Takizawa, dancing in the arena made for an unforgettable experience. May many people enjoy sports and entertainment at the IG Arena!
