Aleksandra is kicking off her season today at the Robin Cousins Cup in Sheffield, England

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start today at 15:11:00 BST (14:11:00 GMT / 17:11:00 EEST). So 9 hours from now.

Aleksandra will be the 7th skater to start. So, second skater to go in Group 2.

And that is as much as I can tell you, as there are no Time Schedule PDF's for this event.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Aleksandra finished 4th out of 11 in the SP, with a score of 46.92.

Here is what I wrote about the Warm-Up in the competition thread:

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Looking at the Protocols, there were two elements that Aleksandra had issues with. The first was the second element, the Triple Toe-Double Toe. As I pointed out at the time, the landing wasn't great on the first part. Consequently, it got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.98. And it got Judges marks of two -3's; and three -2's.

The second was the fourth element, the Triple Loop. Not only did she fall on it, but it was downgraded. It got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.85. And, unsurprisingly, it got -5 from all five Judges.

Otherwise, the programme went well. The GOE's ranged from +0.09 for the penultimate element, the Layback Spin; to +0.78 for the Step Sequence that she did just after it. And all the Judges marks were in the 0 to +3 range.

Aleksandra was the highest scoring of the skaters that had a fall.

Aleksandra is currently 3.29 points behind 3rd position, Michelle LEE (USA), and 3.21 points ahead of 4th position, Marilena KITROMILIS (CYP).

Aleksandra is in a tricky position. If she puts in a good Free Skate and Michelle Lee makes mistakes, there is a chance that she could get onto the podium. However, if Aleksandra makes mistakes, and any of the three skaters in the group behind her puts in a good Free Skate, there is a possibility that she could drop positions.

So, Aleksandra needs to make sure that she has a good Free Skate to make sure she at least maintains 4th position, if not betters it.

:cheer: WELL DONE ALEKSANDRA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start today at 14:59:00 BST (13:59:00 GMT / 16:59:00 EEST). So 8 hours from now.

Aleksandra will be the 8th skater to start. So, third skater to go in Group 2.

And that is as much as I can tell you, as there are no Time Schedule PDF's for this event.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Aleksandra finished 7th out of 12 in the FS, with a score of 78.37. This meant that she dropped to 5th position overall, with a score of 125.29.

Here is what I wrote about the Warm-Up in the competition thread:

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Before I go on, I should explain something. There were problems getting the music to play for the first skater to go in Group 2, Alex EVANS (USA). And it resulted in a big long delay before she finally got doing her programme. And, consequently, everybody after her had longer to wait between doing the Warm-Up and doing their programme. Aleksandra was the second to skate after her.

Looking at the Protocols, it didn't actually go as badly as I initially feared. Sure, there were four elements that had all negative nnumbers next to them. But apart from them, the only other negative number in the programme was a -1 from Judge 4 for the Choreographic Sequence.

Obviously, the most costly elements were the two jumps she fell on. The third element, the Triple Toe, got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.10. And the seventh element, the Triple Salchow, got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.15. Both of them got -5 from all five Judges.

The only other element that was properly costly was the fourth element, the Double Flip-Double Axel done in sequence. It got the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.99; and -3 from all five Judges.

As for the two jumps that were popped, the second element, the Single Loop, was completely neutral. The sixth element, the Single Salhow, got the remaining negative GOE, at -0.09. It also got -4 from Judge 1; -3 from two Judges; and -1 from two Judges.

Aleksandra finished the Free Skate 0.27 points behind 6th position, Marilena KITROMILIS (CYP), and 3.40 points ahead of 8th position, Emma LYONS (GBR).

Overall, Aleksandra finished 6.42 points behind of 4th position, Michelle LEE (USA), and 2.94 points ahead of 6th position, Kitromilis.

Aleksandra's FS programme had the second lowest Base Value of the field. Only the skater that finished in last position had a programme that was worth less. Yet, with two falls, she also managed to finish ahead of two skaters whose programmes had much higher Base Values and Technical Elements Scores. How? Because Aleksandra had the fourth highest Programme Components Score of the field, surpassed only by the skaters that finished in the Top 3. Which is hardly surprising. Aleksandra is one of the best at selling a programme.

Although she will be disappointed to have had three falls between the two programmes, there is a lot to take encouragement from. The fact that it is so early in the season and she was able to get the scores she did despite the mistakes, indicates that this could be a good year for her.

I have to admit that I was disappointed when I saw the entry list for the Olympic Qualifying Event in Beijing next month, and there was nobody from Lithuania on it. But then I checked and discovered that Lithuania had already qualified a Ladies slot from Worlds.

As it stands, Aleksandra doesn't have the TES minimums to go to any of the Majors this season. (The minimums for Olympics are the same as for Europeans). But, hopefully she can achieve them between now and whenever the deadline is.

Ondrej Nepela Memorial Trophy Senior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

Aleksandra finished 18th out of 23 in the SP, with a score of 48.43.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Ondrej Nepela Memorial Trophy, as I was concentrating on the Junior Grand Prix in Baku and the Nebelhorn Trophy.

Looking at the Protocols, Aleksandra had issues on three elements. I don't know what the issue was with the first two elements. The opening Triple Toe got the second biggest GOE hit, at -1.26; and -3 from all seven Judges.

The second element, the Double Axel, got the third biggest GOE hit, at -0.86. It also got -4 from Judge 7; -3 from three Judges; and -2 from three Judges.

The Protocols do tell use what happened the fourth element, the Triple Flip-Double Toe. The Flip was landed on the quarter. It got the biggest GOE hit, at -2.12; as well as -5 from Judge 1; and -4 from the remaining six Judges.

The other elements went very well, with the GOE ranging from +0.28 for the third element, the Flying Camel Spin; to +0.67 for the final element, the Layback Spin. The latter also got the highest Judges mark, with +4 from Judge 2. All the other Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were in the 0 to +3 range.

Aleksandra is currently 0.05 points behind 17th position, Nina POVEY (GBR), and 3.52 points ahead of 19th position, Barbora VRÁNKOVÁ (CZE). Aleksandra is at the bottom of a group where 15 skaters are covered by 12.24 points, stretching up to Starr ANDREWS (USA) in 4th position.

In a group this big, anything can happen. With being at the back of the group, there is a lot of potential for Aleksandra to move up considerably if she has a good Free Skate.

So let's hope that she does!

Aleksandra finished 12th out of 22 in the FS, with a score of 95.81. This meant that she climbed to 13th position overall, with a score of 144.24.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Ondrej Nepela Memorial Trophy, as I was concentrating on the MotoGP in Japan and the World Superbikes in Spain.

Looking at the Protocols, Aleksandra again had issues on three elements. But unlike with the Short, we do know what jappened with all of them.

She singled the second element, the Loop. It got the smallest GOE hit possible, at -0.01, and because it already had by far the lowest Base Value of the programme, it was the lowest scoring element of the programme. In terms of Judges marks, it got two -1's and five 0's.

The third element was a Triple Toe-Double Axel-Double Axel done in sequence. The Double Axel in the middle was under-rotated. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.84, but because it had by miles the highest Base Value of the programme, it was the by miles the highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from Judge 7; -2 from five Judges; and -1 from Judge 2.

The seventh element, the Triple Salchow, was landed on the quarter. But she also fell. This resulted in the biggrst GOE hit of the programme, at -2.15; and -5 from all seven Judges.

The Triple Salchow-Double Toe that she did directly before it was completely neutral, in terms of both GOE and Judges marks.

Everything else got positive GOE, ranging from +0.08 for the opening Triple Toe- Double Toe; to +0.74 for the fourth element, the Triple Flip. For the elements with positive GOE, the Judges marks ranged from 0 to +3. The final two elements, the Layback Spin and the Change Foot Combination Spin, were completely +2's and +3's. And, in somewhat of a coincidence, they both got exactly the same GOE, of +0.70.

Aleksandra finished the Free Skate 3.01 points behind 11th position, Vanesa ŠELMEKOVÁ (SVK), and 2.40 points ahead of 13th position, Barbora VRÁNKOVÁ (CZE).

Overall, Aleksandra finished 4.72 points behind of 12th position, KIM Chaeyeon (KOR), and 2.30 points ahead of 13th position, Elizabet GERVITS (ISR).

For the second event in a row, Aleksandra has finished directly ahead of one of my other kids!

Although the Free Skate was not perfect, it was good enough to result in Aleksandra climbing considerably up the order from where she was after the Short Programme. To be honest, though, this was largely due to a lot skaters that were in front of her making more mistakes than she did. It worked out for Aleksandra this time, but it won't always.

But it is still very early in the season. As the season goes on and Aleksandra gets more experience with her new programmes, I'm sure she will improve.

No video uploaded yet 😞

Aleksandra finished 11th out of 13 in the SP, with a score of 44.46.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

Aleksandra is currently 0.49 points behind 10th position, Michaela VRAŠŤÁKOVÁ (CZE), and 5.73 points ahead of 12th position, Selmasiri Bella LARSEN (DEN). Aleksandra is at the bottom of a group where 10 skaters are covered by 8.06 points, stretching up to Clémence MAYINDU (FRA) in 2nd position.

That was using my usual guide of using 2.00 point gaps to define groups. If I cut it down to 1.50 point gaps, then Aleksandra is at the bottom of a group where 8 skaters are covered by 5.87 points, stretching up to Nina POVEY (GBR) in 4th position.

Although it is antepenultimate position, Aleksandra is in a very good position here. She is at the bottom of a large tight group that stretches up to 4th position, and the gap to the top of the group is roughly the same as the gap to the skater directly behind her. If she has a good Free Skate, she can potentially climb a lot of positions. If she doesn't, the worst that can happen is that she loses one position. So, she can afford to go for it.

So. let's hope she has a good Free Skate and climbs as high as she can!

:cheer: WELL DONE ALEKSANDRA!!! :cheer:

The Group 1 Warm-Up is due to start at 15:22:00 BST (14:22:00 GMT / 17:22:00 EEST). So 8 hours from now.

Aleksandra finished 8th out of 13 in the FS, with a score of 85.52. This meant that she climbed to 8th position overall, with a score of 129.98.

Unfortunately I was not able to watch the Tayside Trophy, as I was watching the penultimate round of the World Superbikes from Portugal.

Looking at the Protocols, there were four elements with issues. WIth the opening element, the Triple Toe, we are not told what the issue was. But, it got the second biggest GOE hit, at -1.54. It also got -5 from Judge 1; -4 from two Judges; and -3 from two Judges.

The Judges marks were straightforward enough for the other three elements that had negative GOE: each of them got -5 from all five Judges.

The first of these was the third element, a Triple Axel-Double Axel-Double Axel done in sequence. The final Axel was under-rotated, and she fell. It got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.10. But because it had by miles the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme.

The other two issues were back-to-back downgraded Salchows. The sixth element, the Double Salchow, got the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.20. And because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme.

As well as being downgraded, Aleksandra fell on the seventh element, the Triple Salchow. It got the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.65. And because it had the second lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second lowest scoring element of the programme.

For the rest of the elements, the GOE ranged from +0.18 for the fourth element, the Double Flip-Double Toe, to +1.05 for the final element, the Change Foot Combination Spin. As well as a +1 from Judge 3, that spin got +3 from the remaining four Judges. Apart from those four +3's, all the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +2.

Aleksandra finished the Free Skate 0.21 points behind 7th position, Ophélie CLERC (CHE), and 5.56 points ahead of 9th position, Barbora VRÁNKOVÁ (CZE).

Overall, Aleksandra finished 2.51 points behind of 7th position, Clerc, and 1.50 points ahead of 9th position, Clémence MAYINDU (FRA).

On the whole, the two programmes didn't go the way she would have wanted. And she would have wanted to do well, as it was at her home rink in front of her friends, colleagues and students. Nevertheless, the things that went well in the Free Skate were good enough to send her climbing up the order.

It is probably significant to note that, as far as my records show, this is the first time since she started competing in Seniors a decade ago that Aleksandra has had two new programmes. She normally carries one of her programmes over from the previous season. For somebody that has long been in the routine of having to get used to one new programme during the early part of the season, this is a big deal. Add in the other responsibilites she has now like being a wife and a coach, and we should not be surprised if it takes her a little longer than normal to get in the zone this season.

I just hope that when she does get up to speed with them, that she gets the minimums to compete in all the Majors. Because I want to see her on the biggest stages again. Being realistic, she is at the age where we are never sure how much longer a Ladies Singles skater is going to continue for. Hey, I was convinced she was going to retire two seasons ago! (Well, the stars seemed to be aligning back then - Europeans were in her home country, and she brought back a variation of her "Clare De Lune" SP over a decade after she last used it).

When things are going her way, Aleksandra is a beautiful skater. And we want to see as much of her skating beautifully while we can.

Aleksandra finished 9th out of 26 in the SP, with a score of 51.42.

Here is what I wrote about the Warm-Up in the competition thread:

Unfortunately, I was eating at the time that the Group 5 skaters were doing their programmes. But, I have now watched the archived livestream, sohere is the sort of comment I would have written about the programme if I had been watching LIVE:

ALEKSANDRA HAS BROUGHT BRUCE FORSYTHE BACK!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

(You have to be from the British Isles to know what I am getting at).

To think, it was only a few hours earlier that I commented during the Men's FS at the Finlandia Trophy:

Oh, Roman. I love "Clair De Lune". Such a beautiful piece of music, and it always produces beautiful skating programmes.

I was going to add that it always makes me think of Aleksandra, but I decided to keep on topic.

Beautiful choreography at the start. And then a beautiful combination jump.

Beautiful Double Axel.

Ach, fall on Triple Loop.

But made up for it with a beautiful Flying Camel Spin into Change Foot Combination Spin (How did she not get dizzy spinning for so long?!)

The Step Sequence fitted so well with the change of tempo in the music.

And a beautiful Layback Spin to finish with.

I always get emotional whenever I see Aleksandra skating to "Clair De Lune", whether it be the original or this version.

Now that she brought it back again, I am getting those feelings that I got two years ago all over again. That bringing back the music that she used in her debut Senior season over a decade ago is an indication that this is her swansong season. I was wrong then. But, as time goes on, it becomes more likely.

Of course, it could just be that she has brought back this programme because she likes it and does well with it. We will just have to wait and see.

When she finished, you could see she was upset. And when we went to the results area, Simon Briggs was comforting her. She is so upset that Simon had to prompt her to wave to the camera.

You know, seeing how upset she is when she only made one mistake, I am starting to wonder now if this could be her swansong competition. I'm not ready for that if it is.

Having let Simon deal with comforting Aleksandra (I've noticed over the years that Simon is very good at cheering up skaters), David Richardson is now talking to her ahead of the scores being announced.

She goes into 8th position.

Aleksandra may be upset, but I am happy. Apart from the fall, everything was beautiful.

Our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was watching LIVE, and wrote:

Looking at the Protocols,

Aleksandra is currently 0.56 points behind 9th position, Jogailė AGLINSKYTĖ (LTU), and 2.46 points ahead of 10th position, Laura SZCZĘSNA (POL). All three of them are part of a group where 8 skaters are covered by 4.65 points, stretching from Sarina JOOS (ITA) in 4th position, 3.57 points ahead of Aleksandra, down to Stefania YAKOVLEVA (CYP) in 11th position, 1.08 points behind Aleksandra.

Now this is an interesting position Aleksandra finds herself in. All three Lithuanian girls finished the Short Programme in consecutive positions. Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU) is the first of them, in 8th position, 1.33 points ahead of Jogailė and 1.89 points ahead of Aleksandra. And, hence, all three of them will be skating back-to-back-to-back in Group 4 of the Free Skate segment.

If Aleksandra has a good Free Skate, there is every possibility that she could get to the top of the group. But, she needs to be careful, because there are two skaters breathing down her neck. Personally, I think her priority will be to try to finish ahead of the two younger Lithuanian girls.

All of which means she needs to have a good Free Skate.

Aleksandra finished 13th out of 26 in the FS, with a score of 90.07. This meant that she dropepd to 12th position overall, with a score of 141.49.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch Group 4 because I was eating my Sunday Dinner at the time. However, I have now played catch-up on the archived livestream, so here is the sort of comment I would have written about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

Ooooh. Stefania did a little pose in the doorway before she did her walk on. Well, run on! Double waves once she got onto the ice.

Double waves from Aleksandra just after she came through the doorway, and then a causal walk onto the ice. Then a stretch of the arms, before another double wave.

We saw Stefania taking off her jacket as soon as the Start Order graphic disappeared. It's the white dress for her "The Artist" FS, so it's just the SP that's new. Mind you, when we switched to the camera zoomed on ion her, we saw her having a bit of trouble taking it off. That's what happens when you try to do things on the move! But, Kristina successfully got it.

Oooh, when Laura SZCZĘSNA (POL) was being focussed on, it looked like Aleksandra was going to collide with her. But, she passed by without any drama. It might just have been the camera angle making them look closer than they were.

Also when they were on Szczęsna, we saw Stefania in the background lining up a jump, but she went out of shot before doing it.

When they switched to focus on Aleksandra, she was just landing a jump close to the camera. Her jacket was gone by now, and she was wearing a beautiful red dress. She then crossed over to the far side of the rink, and at the same time we saw Stefania lining up a jump, but again she was out of shot too soon for us to see it.

As she was going down to the other end of the rink, she was gliding along doing an Arabesque, but got obscured by the Planned Programme Content graphic, so we didn't see the end of it. But, when it disappeared, she did a sequence of jumps. The first one was beautiful, the second had a bit of an iffy landing, and the third one didn't have a great landing at all. We were lucky to see the third jump, because Stefania came into the foreground doing a jump. But, we only saw the top half of her, so I don't know what her landing was like.

When the camea switched to focus on the next skater, we saw Stefania going over to the boards to talk to Kristina. And a while later, we saw her leaving again. The stream actually then jumped a bit to the next skater, and in the background we saw Aleksandra skating alongside the boards. Then we saw Stefania in the background going in the opposite direction. She then went out of shot and, not long later, we saw her circling around, before going out of shot again.

While they were showing the current Standings table on screen, we saw Stefania circling around lining up a jump, but she did it out of shot.

In the last minute or so, when they had a graphic up on screen telling us what we were watching, we saw Stefania and Aleksandra go through teh shot a few times, but didn't see them do any elements. There was one tie that Stefania did a jump in shot, but another skater went past her and blocked our view at just the crucial moment.

But, we are going to see Stefania do lots of elements now, as it is her turn to do her programme.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST STEFANIA!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is the sort of comment I would have written about her programme if I had been watching LIVE:

I like the starting pose.

Beautiful choreography at the start to go with the beautiful music.

Beautiful combiantion jump to start with.

Ach, singled out the Loop.

Thought she was going to fall on the first of the sequence of jumps, but she held on. Didn't see the landing on the second jump because we changed camera at the wrong moment. Third jump looked fine.

Not a great landing on the Triple Flip, but the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin immediately afterwards was beautiful.

Just about stayed on her feet on landing the Triple Salchow, but a hand down.

Ach, fall on the next Triple Salchow, so no combination means a repeated element was called.

But the Double Flip just afterwards was beautiful.

The Step Sequence and Choreographic Sequence were beautiful, but slow. Not her fault - she was keeping perfectly in time with the music. The natural speed of the music was just too slow for them.

Layback Spin and Change Foot Combination Spin at end were both beautiful.

Wiping her eyes just after she finished. Could this be an indication that my feeling about her retiring is correct?

That's her husband sitting with her. And I'm guessing the older lady is either her Mum or his Mum. Oh My Goodness, I think I'm right. This is her swansong competition.

As has become tradition, she is the recipient of one of @NoNameFace's flower crowns. She teases putting it on herself, and then Lukas, but then puts it on herself. But then she puts it on Lukas. And then he puts it on the older lady. Who then puts it back on Aleksandra.

Diana starts telling the story of @NoNameFace and her flower crowns.

Aleksandra goes into 4th position.

She looks disappointed.

When she was being introduced, my friend from Norway, @norwegianfairytale, commented:

After she skated, my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue, was her usual diplomatic self:

Our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, was more positive:

@norwegianfairytale then came back to point out that Aleksandra had got one of @NoNameFace's crowns:

And @Jeanie19 elaborated:

When the next skater came on, @norwegianfairytale realised the significance of this part of the group:

Looking at the Protocols, there were five elements with issues. The secind element, the Loop, was singled. It had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.02, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remaine as the lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it three -1's; and four 0's.

The third element, the Triple Toe-Double Axel-Single Axel done in sequence, had the second smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.76. But because it had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained the highest scoring element of the programme. It got -3 from Judge 6; -2 from four Judges; and -1 from two Judges.

The fourth element, the Triple Flip, was under-rotated. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.04, which meant that it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it five -5's; and two -4's.

The sixth element, the Triple Salchow, was under-rotated. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.31, which meant that it went from having the fourth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fourth lowest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it five -4's; and two -3's.

The seventh element was another under-rotated Triple Salchow, but this time she fell. This meant she couldn't attach anything onto it, and so it was called as a repeated element. It got the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.72, which meant it went from having the fifth lowest Base Value of the programme, to being the second lowest scoring element of teh programme. Unsurpisingly, it got -5 from all seven Judges.

The opening element, the Triple Toe-Double Toe, had neutral GOE, and since it already had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the second highest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from Judge 2; and 0 from the remaining six Judges.

The remaining elements had GOE ranging from +0.07 for the eighth element, the Double Flip; to +1.30 for the tenth element, the Choreographic Sequence. All the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE ranged from 0 to +3.

Only five skaters had a higher Programme Components Score than Aleksandra.

Aleksandra finished the Free Skate 0.39 points behind 12th position, Karolina BIAŁAS (POL), and 5.94 points ahead of 14th position, Sarah Marie PESCH (DEU).

Overall, Aleksandra finished 6.76 points behind 11th position, Niki WORIES (NED), and 6.28 points ahead of 13th position, Białas.

Well, it may not be the best skate of your career, but you have given us lots of pleasure over the years. I am so proud of you, and so happy to have been a fan of your's.

Of course, as a fan, I hope this is not goodbye. But if it is, I wish you all the best for the future.

Golden Spin Of Zagreb Senior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guLn2t1Jseo

Aleksandra finished 20th out of 30 in the SP, with a score of 48.31.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final and the final round of the Formula 1.

Aleksandra is currently 0.23 points behind 19th position, Jogailė AGLINSKYTĖ (LTU), and 0.86 points ahead of 21st position, Julia GRABOWSKI (DEU). All three of them are part of a group where 10 skaters are covered by 4.81 points, stretching from Ava Marie ZIEGLER (AUT) in 12th position, 3.52 points ahead of Aleksandra, down to Taisiia SPESIVTSEVA (UKR) in 22nd position, 1.29 points behind Aleksandra.

As with the Warsaw Cup, all of the Top 3 Lithuanian girls were competing at the Golden Spin. And, again, Jogailė was one position ahead of Aleksandra. The difference this time is that rather than being one place ahead of Jogailė after the SP like in Warsaw, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU) was down in 25th position, 6.23 points behind Jogailė and 6.00 points behind Aleksandra.

It looks like the Lithuanian Fed is again basing their decisions over a series of competitions where the 3 girls go head-to-head. But the difference this year is that rather than doing it two at a time, all three of them are being sent to each event.

Jogailė and Aleksandra are right in the middle of a big group, which means that depending on how they skate, they both have the potential to move up considerably, or move down considerably. With Aleksandra being the first of the two of them to skate, she needs to make sure she puts in a good Free Skate to try to maximise her chances not just of climbing up the order, but also of finishing as the top Lithuanian.

So, let's hope she does have a good Free Skate!

:cheer: WELL DONE ALEKSANDRA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 09:15:00 CET (08:15:00 GMT / 10:15:00 EET). So 3 hours from now.

Aleksandra will be the 11th skater to start. So, fifth and penultimate skater to go in Group 2.

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 10:06:30 CET (09:06:30 GMT / 11:06:30 EET). So 3h 51m from now.

Aleksandra is due to start at 10:43:00 CET (09:43:00 GMT / 11:43:00 EET). So 4h 33m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Golden Spin Of Zagreb Senior Ladies: Results

Aleksandra finished 18th out of 30 in the FS, with a score of 89.66. This meant that she climbed to 18th position overall, with a score of 137.97.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Golden Spin Of Zagreb, as I was concentrating on the Grand Prix Final and the final round of the Formula 1.

Looking at the Protocols, ot was a tale of two halves. The first half was mostly minuses, while the second half was mostly pluses.

Unfortunately, the Protocols don't tell use what went wrong with the second element, the Triple Loop. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.06, which meant it went from having the fifth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. it got -5 from two Judges; -4 from four Judges; and -3 from Judge 7.

In the third element, the Triple Toe-Single Axel-Double Axel done in sequence, the Triple Toe was landed on the quarter. It had the third biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.92, and because it already had the highest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it two -3's; and five -2's.

The fourth element, the Triple Flip, was under-rotated. It had the fourth biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.90, and because it already had the lowest Base Value of the programme, it remained as the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from all seven Judges.

The seventh element, the Triple Salchow, was landed on the quarter. it had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.55, which meant it went from having the fifth highest Base Value of the programme, to being the fifth lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -5 from Judge 2; -4 from three Judges; and -3 from three Judges.

Apart from a -1 from Judge 1, the eighth element, the Double Flip, was completely neutral in terms of both GOE and Judges marks. It already had the second lowest Base Value of the programme, so it remained as the second lowest scoring element.

For the elements with positive GOE, the GOE ranged from +0.21 for the fifth element, the Flying Change Foot Combination Spin, to +0.70 for the t enth element, the Choreographic Sequence. THe Judges marks for the elements with postitive GOE raneged from 0 to +3.

Aleksandra finished the Free Skate 0.24 points behind 17th position, Marilena KITROMILIS (CYP), and 2.63 points ahead of 19th position, Julia GRABOWSKI (DEU). Aleksandra is the bottom skater in a group of 3 skaters covered by 0.91 points, which is headed by Alexandra FEIGIN (BUL) in 16th position.

Overall, Aleksandra finished 0.99 points behind 17th position, Nargiz SUELEYMANOVA (AZE), and 3.49 points ahead of 19th position, Grabowski.

With regards the other Lithuanian girls, after being 25th in the SP, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (LTU) was 12th in the FS, 10.06 points ahead of Aleksandra and 19.92 points ahead of Jogailė. This meant that she climbed to 15th position overall, 4.06 points ahead of Aleksandra and 13.69 points ahead of Jogailė.

After being one position ahead of Aleksandra in the SP, Jogailė AGLINSKYTĖ (LTU) was 23rd in the FS, 9.86 points behind Aleksandra and 19.92 points behind Meda. This meant that she dropped to 23rd position overall, 9.63 points behind Aleksandra and 13.69 points behind Meda.

Here are how things currently stand in the head-to-heads:

Although Meda is out in front, there is not much separating Jogailė and Aleksandra. All three of them have the minimums for Europeans and the Olympics, but Meda is still the only one that has the Minimums for Senior Worlds. That said, Jogailė is 2.08 points away from getting them whereas Aleksandra is 12.69 points away from getting them.

I'm guessing that they will all be competing at Nationals this coming weekend. So, we will not have long to wait to see how the next head-to-head goes.

Aleksandra finished 3rd out of 3 in the SP, with a score of 51.36.

Unfortunately, my evening meal was ready just as the Senior Ladies SP Warm-Up was starting. But, I played catch-up later on after the Spanish Senior Short Dance was over. Consequently, my posts were a mixture of live posts and delayed posts.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread about the Warm-Up:

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

The only other member to comment was my fellow British member, @shurasol, who commented:

To be fair, Aleksandra's Programme Components Score was only half a point lower than Jogailė's PCS. So, it wasn't a complete disaster in the context of this competition. But, I know what he is getting at. The PCS is usually Aleksandra's strength. But here it was on a par with her Technical Elements Score.

Looking at the Protocols, Aleksandra had issues with three lements.

The third element, the Triple Flip, was under-rotated. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.13, which meant that it went from having the second highest Base Value of the programe, to being the third highest scoring element of the programme. The Judges gave it three -3's; and two -2's.

The fourth element, the Flying Camel Spin, had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.64. This meant that it went from having the second lowest Base Value of the programme, at -0.64, to being the lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -2 from four Judges; and 0 from Judge 5.

The fifth element, the Chaneg Foot Combination Spin, had the smallest GOE hit of the programme, at -0.35. This meant that it went from having the third highest Base Value of the programme, to being the third lowest scoring element of the programme. It got -1 from four Judges; and +2 from Judge 5.

The second element, the Double Axel, had neutral GOE. It got 0 from four Judges; and +1 from Judge 5.

For the remaining elements, the GOE ranged from +0.44 for the penultimate element, the Step Sequence, to +0.84 for the opening element, the Triple Toe-Double Toe. All the Judges marks for the elements with positive GOE were in the +1 to +3 range.

Aleksandra is currently 1.44 points behind 2nd position, Jogailė AGLINSKYTĖ (IceLab Bergamo), and 2.26 points ahead of 1st position, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (Startas).

Here is how the standings table for the head-to-heads now looks going into the Free Skate:

This is just the box-office finale to the head-to-heads that the neutrals were looking for. All three girls being covered by practically nothing, and all in with a good shot for the title of Lithuanian Ladies Champion for the 2025-26 Season.

Of course, Meda is still odds-on to win the series. But, it is still up in the air as to who will be runner-up between Jogailė and Aleksandra.

So, Aleksandra will have to go all out for a good Free Skate to get ahead of Jogailė.

I can't wait to see what happens in the Free Skate.

:cheer: WELL DONE ALEKSANDRA!!! :cheer:

The Senior Ladies FS is due to start at 14:20:00 EET (12:20:00 GMT). So 6 hours from now.

Aleksandra withdrew from the FS after doing the Warm-Up. This meant that she remained in 3rd position overall, with a score of 51.36.

Unfortunately, I was having my Sunday Dinner at the time of the Senior Ladies FS, but I paused the stream and watched it after eating. But, myself and another British member still managed to have a conversation that would make sense to somebody reading it back.

Here is what I wrote in the competition thread about the Warm-Up:

Here is what @shurasol wrote when it was Aleksandra's turn to skate:

When I came to watch, I turned my comment about what happened into a reply:

To which @shurasol replied:

There is a message on Instagram from her. My take from it is slightly different, but hey, everyone can understands it differently.

To which I replied:

Right, I haven't looked at her Instagram recently, so I'll have a look now.

Yeah, it's the same as the last time I visited after the Warsaw Cup. When I saw it the first time, I thought "I hope she's not being given a hard time online. There are some really horrible people out there".

And I really hope that her withrawal today isn't because of somebody saying something nasty to her online. But, it didn't seem like that. She did seem to be happy waving at everybody in the audience. So, it seems like her own decision.

To which he replied:

And Aleks was training at our home rink for a while before moving to Dundee, so we were following her journey since...

And I replied:

I have been a fan of Aleks for just over 10 years, since she was one of three skaters (with Anastasia Galustyan and Angelina Kučvaļska) that did the 2015 EYOF in Austria and 2015 Europeans in Sweden in the same week, with the SP in Sweden being the day after the FS in Austria. I was in total awe of these young girls not just for doing it, but for being able to get decent results in both competitions! And I have been following their careers ever since.

And then I was delighted when she moved to the UK for Uni, and then started competing again towards the end of her course. Although, I was surprised when she left Whitley Bay to go to Dundee. But, she has done so well since resuming her career. It just shows that the UK does have what is needed to support elite international skaters.

She was an inspiration 10 years ago when she did those two competitions in one week, and she has been an inspiration again since she came back from her original retirement.

That is why I am going to miss her so much whenever she does retire.

CaroLiza_fan

I quoted those posts rather than embedded them as we were also talking about somthing else.

As for the other two girls, Meda VARIAKOJYTĖ (Startas) finished 1st out of 2 in the FS, with a score of 114.37. This meant that she remained in 1st position overall, with a score of 167.99.

Jogailė AGLINSKYTĖ (IceLab Bergamo) finished 2.36 points behind Meda in the FS, with a score of 112.01. This meant that she finished 3.18 points behind Meda overall, with a score of 167.99.

Which means that the head-to-heads finished up like this:
