A new clip of Aliona's FS. With jumps and the beginning of her StSq :)

Omg, I love it! The transition of the music also sounds smooth and not jarring at all. Can't wait to see the whole thing this week.

Jumps are looking solid (her 3F+3T as gorgeous as ever), though there were some URs (e.g, on the lutz). I still wonder about her 3A but I guess we'll find out soon.

I love the new clip as well ❤️ she's so fast and goes with the music so perfectly! Her lutz looks a little off but I'm sure it will get better. We get to see her so soon and I'm incredibly excited! Too bad she has to face Sasha this early though :(
I pray to all skating gods Plushenko gets her a quad  I think both 4S and 4T would be possible for her, the height she gets in those jumps is insane. I'm terribly curious if she restored her 3A already...

I finally had a chance to look at it on a proprer monitor.
She skates so gorgeous 🤩😍

3Lz definitely UR
3F+3T amazing as always. The entry speed, the height and the flow are terrific.
I think she has the best flow in jumps ever and it's like she lands on a pillow, caressing the ice instead of hitting it.

Talking about landing I think one of the big differences watching live vs TV is the sound of the blades

Watch the clip again and check out the shorts... I’m almost 100% positive those are her padded shorts... and she looks tired especially on that last lutz... 4S, 3A-2T, 3A, 3Lo?? Or am I just daydreaming?

I would say 4S, 3A-2T, 2A, 3Lo but does it make sense for her to add a quad in place of a 3A when her 3A GOE is so high? Though she isn’t like Anna and Sasha, she wouldn’t add the element unless she was near certain it could be executed without failure in competition.

Wonderful! She grew so much as well. Does Aliona always wear padded shorts? 4S would be cool but she might be wearing them if the 3A isn't perfect.

I feel like the secrecy about the beginning of her program is only explained by her either not having the 3A back, or a change in her front half content for the more difficult...? I really want to be optimistic. It would be amazing if she has a quad or is on the way to getting one, but I don't want to get my hopes up either.

Wondering whether "the secrecy about the beginning of her program" is only explained by her either not having the 3A back, or actually having it :) , maybe along with a quad, I tend to believe the latter, simply because of the public countdown she has started in her account, counting days left to the competiton. Although anything is possible, something makes me think it is an expression of confidence and excitement, and her eagerness to compete. Such eagerness is usually found in those who have high hopes and it tells me that, most probably, Alyona is going to have something to show us, apart from her beautiful costume

my guess is the padded shorts are for her 3As. i don't know if we will see them in competition this weekend but i'm leaning towards they are good enough to train in her programs at the moment. i'm not holding my breath, but of course it would be great to see the 3As back, even if only in the free program.

4S vs 3A: 0 GOE = +1.7, +3 GOE = +2.21 it's progress but marginal,

4S vs 3Lo 0 GOE = +4.8, +3 GOE = +6.24 that's a good reward to take a risk

But we know nothing really.
I just look forward to see her competing again and be ready to be mesmerized

Oooooh that music transition was buttery smooth, I am looking forward to it. Her jumps are looking good and she's SO FAST. She looks faster than last season.

Her Lutz in that clip did look a bit wonky though, hoping the edge is still ok.

I hope they have smoothed out the music transitions in the SP too.

Love the music cut :love2:
I (some others from social media too) noticed delay in rotation in Aliona's jumps - I think it's a good sign and gives me more confidence that she will have more solid "big" jumps sooner or later.
For me it's the opposite. The delay in rotation worries me. Skaters who delay their rotation tend to become underrotators once they get older.

She's holding longer air position in triples - for me this might be a sign implying there is progress in her working on quad jumps.
IMO when girls are more grown up - ie increase on weight - their rotation speed is usually not as fast, so longer air position together with great height and distance in jumps can be a real benefit to beat growth spurt.

The lutz was definitely under. The entry looked a little weird to me. There's a very slight outside edge though. To be honest, it looked deeper at test skates. Hopefully it was just one off jump.

I go back and forth on this...When I'm feeling extremely optimistic, I think, yes! Maybe Aliona has not only gotten the 3A back but has also mastered the 4S! 🤩 I don't agree with those who say that Plushenko would've posted a video if Aliona got the 3A back or added a quad. I think Aliona has some control over what gets posted on the AoP account, and I think she prefers to show up at a competition with upgraded content (rather than say what she's working on or post a video from practice). I think she enjoyed surprising everyone at Finlandia last year with the 3A, and she also won't add anything new until it's extremely consistent.

On the other hand, if I take a pessimistic view, I'd say that the 3A isn't consistent yet, and that's why they're not showing the beginning of the program because they're not sure if she'll put it in the program this weekend or not. Her jumps in this clip are HUGE, but they weren't perfect. The 3S landing wasn't as smooth as it could be, and I felt like she had to work harder than usual to get the 3T combo off. So it's possible that she hasn't been able to get the 3A back.

I guess time will tell... :drama:

Otherwise, I like this section of her program A LOT more now that there are jumps, and perhaps they also added some more transitions. I can't wait to see the whole thing! :hap10:

Abel Korzeniowski is one of my favorite contemporary composers, and I think his music just fits Aliona's skating beautifully!

I'm of the same mindset. When Aliona got her 3A back last year, it was a total surprise to everyone when she debuted it at Finlandia Trophy. Publishing a video online in advance would probably create the unnecessary pressure of expectation, whether she has the 3A or upgraded content or not. I'd really like to think we'll be pleasantly surprised, but I also won't be surprised if she has simpler tech.

Regardless of what happens, I can already tell I'm going to love this free skate, and I'm stoked to see the whole thing! All of Korzeniowski's music sounds the same to me, but it's a sound I like, so I can't complain
