Alena Kostornaia

I liked her Carmen EX sooo much!
It is her last season's SP, just like what Sasha's done.

I wonder when they're going to give the junior skaters actual exhibition programs. Hopefully we won't have to wait until they reach seniors.

Does Alyona do Level 3 steps on purpose? I don't understand why she isn't receiving Level 4.. but how footwork is differentiated is extremely confusing to me!

They're all choreographed as lvl 4 steps and the other categories are pretty much about choreography so it tends to be the case that if a skater fails to get lvl 4 step sequence, it's because they made a mistake on a required step or a turn.

Right that would make sense. But she still got mostly 3 GOEs and I thought her step sequence was better than Trusova's also. I feel like Kostornaia is a better skater, spinner and better artistry than Trusova. Yes the latter is attempting more jumps and more importantly more difficult jumps but that's about it. But if we take it as package, a skater and a performer, Kostornaia wins hands down.

Kostornaia's artistry is a REVELATION!!! I love both her and Nastya Gubanova so much! I pray every day that they will have successful senior careers.

She does move fast and I like that she seems to skate from fingertips thru jumps and spins.

I've been watching her on the junior circuit and I must say that she is really impressive. She doesn't skate like a junior to me. It's like she's an old soul. Looking forward to her development.

I finally got a chance to watch her free skate at JWC and I have no words. Her performance is breathtaking every time, and if it hadn't been for that slip on the lutz, I think this would have been her best performance so far technically as well as artistically. I completely agree with Danibellerika above that Alenka seems like an old soul. She has this intangible ability to imbue her every movement with meaning, which never ceases to amaze me. Every time I watch one of her programs I see something new. Couldn't be more impressed by or proud of her

Kostornaia artistry is so good. The best in russia with Gubanova imo. About her jumps content/technique she kinda remind me with Medvedeva (well still better but have Lutz problem, no -3Lo combo, etc) while Trusova is more like Alina. Im excited about her 3A but not about 4S... Im not sure if she can do 4S but she said she has land 3A before. Really looking forward to her!

I keep coming back to watch her free skate. So beautiful -- look at her going into her most difficult combo here, so relaxed, not a hint of tension in her arms, her back wide open, her head free... You can't teach that kind of gracefulness! I haven't been this excited about a single skater's sensibility and depth of musical interpretation since Mao, I hope Eteri gives her a ton of classical programs.
