Alena Kostornaia

He cracked the tiniest of smiles I think  It may not show on camera, but I think he and Alena get along pretty well. They both seem to have good senses of humor.

Just saw the SP. I was blown away. She was the complete package and more. She has the IT factor, amazing skating skills, musicality, lyrical expressions and timed each movement perfectly. They didn't feel rushed like some other Eteri girls' choreo (Zhenya and Zagi).

And to top that her costume was gorgeous. My God. I only ever say this with Yuzuru, but she has magic in her skating. Only very few skaters have that magical touch to their skating, and Alena is one of them.

Guys, come on. It's really unpleasant to see such gang-nicknames: "Zagi", "Pogo", etc.
Sorry. Thought it was ok to shorten names.

What I was trying to say is even though Alena has the same choreographer, she somehow makes every movement and choreo seem "not rushed, patient, melodic, lyrical" and somehow more in tune with the music. Either Danill is giving her choreo that is less busy, or Alena has amazing talent that can somehow even make rushed choreography look like it's in tune with the music.

Nothing wrong with shortening Zagi and Zhenya. I'd abbreviate it even further, to ZZ Top.

Dante, you surprise me. I did not say anything about Zhenya. I spoke about this "Zagi". Would you call Alina so in person?

No. But I also wouldn‘t go to Alina and discuss in detail her performance with her and how she jumped and what her chances are for next season like we all do here. This is a internet forum. Nobody is going to talk to Alina calling her ”Zagi“ or “Zag“. This is just our way of making our lives easier as Russian ladies all tend to have looong names.

But in the idea of this there is nothing repulsive or unethical. You simply do not have the appropriate qualifications. And if you are a reasonable person (and as far as I know you are) you will speak at the forum about your feelings that this program and jumps causes, and not pretend to be a self-proclaimed expert. And if Alina asking about your feelings about her programs and jumps there is nothing wrong if you honestly answer to her. But I'm sure you - if you called her Zagi, you would insult her.

"Alina" it's long name to you? So " looong" that it should be reduced to "Zagi"?

Man, sense of humor would make your life much easier. :)

I'm so tired of this standart excuse - "sense of humor". But there are proprieties and natural ethical norms. Abusive nicknames have nothing to do with a sense of humor.

Yea, it was so difficult to print "Alina": "A.." "Oh, those Russians!", "-li..", "with their crazy Russian names!!", "-n..", "gosh, completely forgot what's next... oh, what a heck!", "I mean Zagi"

Is it really the case to make such a big discussion out of this??
I personally would use Zagi or Med or Lena Radi or other abbreviation of this kind as a form of fondness and warmth.

Yes, Zag and Med, because Christine Brennan has so much love towards the Russian ladies (major eyeroll)
