I enjoy Alena's skating and she has been a pleasant surprise for me this season with her effortless skating and musicality, who can make even lacklustre choreography shine with interpretation skills that are beyond her age. However, at this point in time, I think she may have outgrown her coaching team. When Ted asked Eteri about her plan for her students as they mature, she indicated her approach is about looking at what her skaters can do today so that they don't have any regrets tomorrow. Her team emphasizes increasing rotations on a less than solid foundation to get results now, rather than focusing on paving careers of duration. Perhaps Alena should look elsewhere before the very important upcoming transition year in seniors, especially if she wants to have some kind of a long term plan/outlook for her competitive future. If she wants to stay in Russia, I don't think Mishin would be a good fit but perhaps she can go to Chebotareva?
